Almost all the profits I made with the Swing algos got offset by the losses the last days.
I am thinking to put some Swing algos back tonight. (Dow, HS, FTSE). In hope to profit from the end of the correction.
Dax and STXE were still running as I had open positions. I didnt want to close them manually.02/06/2018 at 3:44 PM #6172502/08/2018 at 6:47 PM #62064

How is the Status. Are you still alive after the struggling last days?
How do you want to proceed with the Swing algos?
I evaluated the last couple month and recognized that it was loss making from September onwards.
September and October mainly because of sell orders, which was not really clever as the trend was long.
February now was in my opinion exceptional due to the correction/ flash crash whatsoever.
Only December was profitable.
I hope you didnt trade Copper the last period?!
Commodities in general would have been profitable if Copper wouldnt have created a huge loss for me.
Indices are only loss making for short trades in my case.
Surprisingly the 4H pathfinders came through so far (didnt open positions) except DOW with a respectable loss.
Are you still trading the 4H Pathfinders?

Thanks for asking. Still struggling, but only a few PF are still running. In position are Cac40, General Retailers and India50. The rest is stopped out or not PF related.
I’m actually between hope and fear and that is not a good sign and also not how it supposed to be. It looked like a turn last Friday in the beginning of the evening but
it is still very fragile. I need a couple of days like today to reduce somehow part of the losses. But with expiration ahead this Friday i have my doubts.
I’m not running the PF 4H at this moment. Fortunately i missed the last loss on the Dow. I’m holding back with the coming swings. At least until every position is reduced in my porto.
After that i try to build again slowly from the start. I have not ran many commodities lately. I’ve not ran copper and i even not aware of the huge loss it made.
I checked this morning the status of the sectors. I hope not that David realized all these huge losses. OMG!
I hope when we come out of this “disaster” we can continue to work on the swings. But for now i’m holding back.
Best of luck and best regards,02/12/2018 at 9:04 PM #6248602/13/2018 at 11:58 AM #62567
Hello O-jay8 and Patrick,
Considering this “market correction” I am more sceptical to our swing systems right now. As O-jay8 pointed out, the 4h systems were not affected, apart from DOW, but almost all of our swing systems were.
I have tried to see if there was any way to avoid these losses, but so far no. I think another smoothing parameter is needed to avoid similar crashes in the future.
What I am trying to do now is to optimise a system for a full year but without optimising each period. I want to see if that might be a feasible way to work with the daily systems instead. I will post my progress here, but at the moment I won’t run our swings.
No, I haven’t stopped any of the sector systems, but some of them reached their stoploss which massive losses. Since most of them run for a minimum of 2 weeks I will wait them out and hope for the best.
Best of luck and best regards,

I had entered with copper and unfortunately I was low with money and I closed my positions. Yesterday, copper recovered all losses and PF is now positive (+1400€).
Too bad but they are the risks of the trade.
I still believe in Pathfinder Swing.

Surprisingly almost all losses from the last 2 weeks got offset by the recent gains. Copper ended up with a gain as well. China, Dax, STXE are running favorably.
South Africa, Hangseng for 4h closed with nice profits.
Unlucky that I did run it in demo only as I became scared and stopped all my Swing algos (e.g. Copper) or reduced the size (e.g Hangseng and Dow in 4h Pathfinder)
It proves again it is often better just to stick to the Strategy. But sleepless nights and a high Pulse would kill me.
Somehow it gives me a certain degree of confidence back for the Swing algos.
I am just thinking to activate Swing algos when the overall trend looks to be going in the same direction. The idea of Swing trading is to follow the trend and profit from push backs. Before I didnt do it.
