I’m having trouble saving my own trading systems within ProRealTime.
I can write and test a program and it seems to save and appear in my list of ‘back testing & automatic Trading’
But if I close ProRealTime all my hard work is lost and it seems to have disappeared. The ‘back testing & automatic Trading’ still contains systems I have down loaded, but none of the systems I have programmed.
I’m launching prorealtime from the IG platform on a mac.
Am I missing something obvious?
How are you supposed to save trading systems?

-I have tried every way to save!
-Thought for a while that it worked the first time the template was saved, but I was wrong…
-I have two accounts and it´s the same problem on both = very annoying! If I for example have Three Equity curves on one instrument and then saves, maybe one of the curves remain. The is not a new problem, it´s been the same thing since I started using PRT one year ago.08/16/2020 at 6:29 PM #14175708/16/2020 at 7:29 PM #141764Three Equity curves on one instrument
So you mean 3 Systems giving 3 separate equity curves?
I will try for you now on mine and let you know.
08/16/2020 at 7:39 PM #141766Right … I had 3 Systems producing 3 separate equity curves and I Quit and clicked Yes to save Template.
I logged back in and 2 Systems / 2 equity curves showing.
The System / equity curve that did not show after logging back in was the System I had been optimising. This system had been saved okay in the Backtesting & Autotrading.
Does above help?
08/16/2020 at 8:04 PM #141769In my opinion, it is logical for Systems under active backtest / optimise to not appear after Quit and Login?
Reason: Systems are prevented from going straight into optimise backtest and needlessly wasting PRT server power?
I had entered / saved my variable values (from opti-results) but for the Platform backend to know … which active optimised systems results had been saved and which not saved … would be a big ask??

08/16/2020 at 9:21 PM #141778lost more code, It has happened to me again 🙁
I have been control s saving when using the “Backtesting & Automatic Trading – Trade system creation” but code lost for no apparent reason. There is no ‘save as’ function and no list of past items of saved code and I can see no way to retrieve it.
I have taken to copying my code to a word document every now and then. I can’t help think I’m missing something?
best wishes.
08/16/2020 at 9:38 PM #141782I’ve been doing the same since I first used PRT, I use NotePad++ to accomplish the job PLUS I export the .ITF file as well, as an additional safety measure. I do this multiple times a day.
08/17/2020 at 12:28 AM #141792This seems to be a very common problem, lost many programs in past. Now, as a rule of thumb, I export any code I write to my local machine. If it disappears from PRT, it is just a click away.
However, PRT team need to look into this seriously, as saving Template also means whatever has been added to already saved template also gets saved. eg, I may have a perfectly tuned a template but it will be overwritten with new changes if saved, and PRT code still not getting saved many times.

2 Equity curves still showing – thats like winning the lottery! 🙂
For me it isn´t systems I have been optimizing that doesn´t stay in the saved template. I haven´t lost any code, the systems get saved as they should, I Always perform a backtest after any Changes in the code.
The problem for me is that I want to save different systems equity curves on a instrument to later on easily click that template and know what i´ve been working on and see performance.

You could only do this if the Systems are stored in the Backtest & AutoTrading window … so are they??

I haven´t lost any code, the systems get saved as they should in the Backtest & AutoTrading window. My problem is that I can´t save templates. Well I can save teplates but not with the Equity curves still there.
08/17/2020 at 3:44 PM #141864I´m now looking at some of the templates i´ve made on my new account in the past 3 Days. Many of them are saved with the wrong instrument also, and without or missing Equity curves. I Think this is a basic function that should work…
