    Dear Nicolas,

Can you please give your thoughts on the following two trading ideas? I have been using them manually and they work absolute charm. The only problem is sometimes emotions take over during live market and I dont following the rules. Is it possible for you to code these 2 systems?

    1)           Macd sync system- (Anchor time frames- 1hr and 4hrs. Entry TF- 15m)

When 15m macd crosses up and if 1hr and 4hr are already up then it should buy on next candle (once the 15m macd 1st histo is confirmed). Stop loss 10 pips below the signal candle low (on which the macd cross is confirmed). Exit on 15m macd red histogram (no need to wait for the confirmation. Once the histogram goes below 0 it should close the trade even in live candle.

Complete opposite scenario for the sell signals.

Trading hours- Only 7am GMT to 5pm GMT for entries and for exit whenever the exit scenario is met even if it is out of the trading hours.

    2)           Stoch Porche system- (Anchor TF- 1hr, Entry-15m)

If 1hr Macd histo is already green and 15m Stochastic lines are crossing up in the buy zone (0 to 40) then buy at next candle. Stop loss 10 pips below the signal candle low. Exit when 15m Stochastic lines cross down is confirmed.

In the first versions of both systems only stop loss is fixed, but target is open. Exit is on indicator opposite cross. In the next version, we can try differet variations like SL to break even after some move or sell half and then SL to BE or exit on key support/resistance or exit on the anchor (higher) timeframe indicator opposite cross etc.

I moved your post into a separate topic.

After a quick review of your description, that seems possible to be coded for ProOrder. In the meantime, do you have some screenshots to share for a perfect understanding of the two strategies? Thanks in advance.

    Dear Nicolas,

Thanks for the quick reply and sorry for posting it in a wrong thread. I am new here but working with PRT from last 2 years. I will post the screenshots later today.

    Regards.

    Dear Nicolas,

Sorry for the delay. Please find the screenshots for both strategies. Actually, I use MT4 for getting the alerts and seeing Multi time frame view at a glance. Thats why the screenshots are attached from mt4 to give you an idea. While testing it on the PRT, I realized that the perfect 3 TFs scenario is very rare. When 15m confirms cross up/down, either 1hr or 4hr is about to cross but not confirmed in most cases. However on MT4, I attach 1hr and 4hr macds on 15m chart, so it gives the signal quicker. This problem is only for the Macd sync system on PRT. We can set some rules like either 1hr or 4hr is in the same direction and one of the TF macd is about to cross (can set some value for histogram e.g. 0-10).

For stoch porche, there is no problem.

Please check the screenshots and let me know whether you need further clarfication?

    Regards.

General question: do you wait for candlesticks to Close for the superior timeframes to consider the histogram is red/green? or do you get that values directly intra-bar? Because in history, all seem clear since bars are closed and colors are now fixed!

    #90506

    Answer to your question-

For superior time frames, we just need one of the TFs histogram confirmed. E.g.either 1hr or 4hr atleast 1 histogram is confirmed. As mentioned in the earlier message, both higher TFs candle closed scenarios are very rare. so we just need any one of them.

So the entry criteria would be as below

For buy- 15m green histogram confirmed and either 1hr or 4hr has already green histo confirmed. Then enter on next candle open of 15m.

Exit on 15m red histogram (on live candle) no need to wait for candle close for exit. Only for entry we need confirmation.

There will be 3 synchronization scenarios

    15m and 1hr

    15m-4hr

    15m-1hr-4hr

ok, I’ll code it accordingly but I don’t think you have really understood what I was meaning.

Example: conditions are fulfilled and you enter an order at 08:11

At that time, the 4 hour candlestick is not yet finished (it has just begun), so during the next 4 hours the 4H MACD could change from green to red and vice-versa a dozen times, because you haven’t wait for a 4H confirmation of the trend.

    HI Nocals,

I got what you meant, but I think I couldnt explain you properly. let me try once again.

As long as 1hr is in the direction of 15m, we dont need to wait for 4hr confirmation. we just need either  1hr or 4hr. there will always be one TF macd in opposite direction (most of the time). the 4hr candle confirmation will take 16 candles of 15min. by that time the price would have moved quite a long way if 1hr is already in our direction. Thats why I said we need only one of the higher timeframe in the direction of 15m cross.

I just took Crude oil trade this morning when 15m crossed down and confirmed. At that time, only 4hr macd had a confirmed cross however 1hr was about to cross. It gave me about 90 pips. For trade management, need to test differnent options. But for entry, it is a high probability entry with a very small stop loss. Please find the screenshot of Oil’s trade taken today.

    Hi Nicolas,

Further explanation- The trend will always be where 2 out of 3 macds will be. So, if we entered at 15-1hr combination and 4hr just began or even at opposite side, that’s fine. We can stay in the trade as  long as 15 and 1hr are in the same direction. Once 15m changes direction and if 4hr is still in the same side we can take the trade in that direction as per 15-4hr combination. I have back tested all 3 scenarios and I trade them every day. The best one is 3 TFs sync obviously. The next one is 15m-1hr (if 1hr has just 1-2 histograms) and then 15m-4hr and 1hr is very close to cross like the oil trade taken today.

I hope this and the last message and the screenshot will make it clear.

    Regards.

Please find the GBPUSD screenshot of 3 TFs sync. There were 2 opportunities today.

Here is the first strategy about the MACD system. Orders are opened if either 1h or 4h MACD is red for sell orders and green for buy orders.

Many thanks for a quick response Sir!

I will test it and let you know the results. Entry strategy is perfect, only need to think about the trade management options. because sometimes if we wait for 15m opposite cross it gives either a breakeven or loosing trade even if the price moved 50-60 pips after the signal in our direction since entry. So, can you please advise how can we add different trade management options to optimize this strategy?

    1. Sell half after 30 pips or 15m stochastic crosses opposite side and confirms (keep the SL as it is)
    2. Move SL to BE after certain pips e.g. after 30 pips.
    3. Move SL to BE after 30 pips and sell half
    4. Close either 100 pips or 15m live candle histo colour change (whichever is earlier)

You don’t have to wait for the 15min candlestick to close to exit an order. In this version, if the 15min MACD turns red to green during the candlestick, the order is closed. Of course, it generates a lot of false entries and bad results:

(launch it on an inferior timeframe than the 15 minutes one, e.g. the 1-min TF).

About your trade management options, your list could be extended to hundreds of possibilities 🙂 I let you analyze the best one to be coded.

    #90538

okay, thanks for your advise. Yes, the auto trade management works better on 5m or 1m timeframes.

We can reduce the false signals by adding some filters like it should enable only during busy times of the market we want to trade and keep off during doldrums.

    Dear Nicolas,

My multi time frame feature on PRT will be activated on Monday. I would test the code by then. In the mean time Can you please look at my screeners request posted on a separate thread (https://www.prorealcode.com/topic/macd-and-stochastic-screeners-help-required/ whenever you get time? I can use them to find the set ups for the 2 systems posted here and take trades manually until there is a optimized trade management option for auto trading. I am testing different options, will let you know which one is the best so that we can keep that condition for exit.
