SORRY, I MISPLACED YESTERDAY THIS MESSAGE IN SPANISH FORUM INSTEAD OF ENGLISH FORUM AS INTENDED…

ABOUT THE ANSWERS I GOT THERE… THIS CASE IS NOT ONLY AN ORPHAN POSITION, AS I COMMENT IN MY POST I KNOW THAT CAN HAPPEN SOME TIMES, BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT, THAT´S WHY I POST IT AND SCARES ME MORE. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE IMAGE ATTACHED THE SYSTES IS IN THE “RUNNING” SECTION OF PROORDER AND WITH A POSITION OPENED INSTEAD OF CLOSING THE SYSTEM AND POSITION AS PRT SHOULD DO WITH AN ERROR. THE WORST PART IS THAT I CANNOT CLOSE THE SYSTEM OR THE POSITION IN ANYWAY BECAUSE THE “STOP” FUNCTION IS NOT ACTICE IN PROORDER AND THE POSITION DOESNT´APPEAR IN ANY OTHER PLACE THAN THIS TABLE. IS THE POSITION OPEN OR CLOSE? I DON´T KNOW AND I CANNOT DO ANYTHING

    Hi all,

I have a situation here that is a little bit scary for me. Yesterday a system gave an error but instead of closing the position, as they usually do, the position stayed open. I couldn´t close the position in PRT so I closed it directly in the broker, IG.

That´s bad enough, with a position opened without system, no stop or nothing. But it´s not the first time, it has happened me very few times and as worry as it is I learned to live with it.

But this time there is a new interesting turn. The system appear as “Running” in ProOrder. It appear with an error but it didn´t go to “Not Running” section of the table as they always do with an error. The system is blocked and I cannot stop it manually or otherwise. And the worst part is that it appear with a position opened that I closed in the broker and shouldn´t be there. I don´t really know if that position is opened or not…!!

I wrote a ticket yesterday but no reply yet

I have attached a picture because it´s something that never happened to me, a system with an error, running with a position and I cannot stop it or do nothing about it

Is this in Demo or your real money Live Account?

    #221799

    Hi Grahal,

It´s in my Real Money Live Account. Thanks god it happened with a system than goes only with the minimun position, 1 contract in USD/JPY

I wrote a ticket yesterday but no reply yet

I think it was a week ago that in other topics very similar happenings were described and they were on-going / not solved for two weeks already. I don’t know the status of *that* (again, looking as the same issue to me), and this one week ago I asked my local support what the status of this issue formally is.

    They knew of nothing …
(did not know about the issue)

You should not send Technical Reports because they end up no-where. You should call – and call PRT  support, not IG. Then maybe they will divert you back to IG telephone support (because you are an IG customer), but then IG will be informed via the backdoor (or you demand that with a “please”).

GraHal, do you know whether this other (same ??) issue has been solved by now ?

I’ve had no instances of  ‘Stopping‘ positions for 10 days or so.

In the past when I had same ob LIVE as TempusFugit now has, I emailed IG with a Ref Number from ‘Orders / somewhere’ which clearly belonged to the orphan position.

IG then closed the position very promptly (I did include ASAP in my directive to IG).

Today finally the system went to “Not Running” systems section of the table as if should have gone from the begining with an error. But oddly enough if I open the historic of the system that position appear as OPEN in the graph and in the orders list, even if the system appear as “Not Running”, see image attached

But that position doesn´t appear opened anywhere else, nor broker, graph  or open positions table. I guess is just a ghost position that doesn´t really exist. But I wonder what would it happen if I activate the system again…?

    Hi @TempusFugit

Has this happened with IG or IB, with CFDs or futures?

FYI : I have told PRT support I may be suing PRT because I have no insight whatsoever anymore in the performance of any System I have in there.  This is about $ and not a few. I myself have no clue any more of how Systems on Instruments perform because all the Detailed Reports have become a mess. This is now so for an accumulated year for me and NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT.

Or in other words : AutoTrading Systems which get aborted have open ends in the Statistics (Detailed Reports) in such a manner that the figures reported are invalid (not the truth).
It is only our money, right ?

PS: It is complicated because it can be proven that at the broker level this goes wrong to begin with and we can only hope that our money is still there. On the global level I trust this, but at the reporting level per trade /  instrument nothing can be trusted because it plainly shows wrong and can’t be added up.

    Hi @TempusFugit

Maybe it’s not related to the problem but keep in mind that when a future is closed, the future results remain open until after the “settlement period”, so you can see activities in your portfolio until after the “settlement period”…

For example, futures that are closed on Friday are not settled until Monday…

(look in your daily trade report for the “settle date”)

JS, this happened with CFDs on IG so no “settlement period”

PeterSt, in this case (ghost position) is clear that PRTvsIG don´t match. I can see in IG´s logs that the position closed with a little loss when a did it manually in their plataform the 27th but this close order doesnt appear at all in PRT. And in the system detailed report, even being “Not Running”, the position appear open !!. Now I dont really know what to do with this system… erased from ProOrder or just activate to see what happen….? I have no word from PRT assistance and I have sent them two urgent messages

    #221893

Now I dont really know what to do with this system

Activate with min position size in Live or in Demo?

You will grow old waiting for PRT to reply! 😉

Now I dont really know what to do with this system

I think I would copy it to a new name, and (re)start that one. With IG this is just possible, even if it seems that PRT itself thinks the (or a) system is still running.
(with IB this would not be possible)
So as long as you know that this system in reality is not running any more (and in Stopping mode it won’t) then you are safe to start a new one.

Yeah, thanks, I  will do that… activate it with a different name and keep the stopped one just in case

And I will keep a very careful eye on the new activated copy. Probably is not related but it´s one of my very few acumulated positions systems
