Hey guys, as you know in prorealtime you can use the wizard to create the bot for you,

I wonder, have anyone successfully made money over a decent period of time with this, or is it a waste of time, if so, why?

    Thanks for answers, take care!

    Leo

That wizard is very good for the learning processes

And money wise? Depends on the strategy ofcourse, but a good MA and macd combination on a 1h timeframe have worked in my backtest for months, and 5 years.

Is the MACD even usable via the wizard?

    Did you see this …

Surely such a basic Indicator as the MACD can’t be wrong in the standard PRT listings???

Yes i have made (my most) profitable algo using wizard-tool as base. As ive gotten used to PRT and coding this has helped me alot. But i must admit, i got much better results when i started coding the same algo. adding trailing stop losses etc. Also you wanna start coding so you can learn how to backtest and optimize better.

My first algo was made in about october i think. Its a trendfollowing algo with about 50-55% winrate and almost 2.0 in gains/loss. Have had it live since december, muy profitable for me thus far. Backtest = live runs for now. Made from using only 2 indicators to get in and 1 to get out + trailing stop.

KISS = Keep it simple, stupid.

Lol are we talking about “wizard” as in the ability to just click the charts and adding values? As in just not coding it urself? Thats what im talking about.

That being said, 5 years is not a big backtest! And simple MA and macd sounds risky. Run it in demo for 1-2 months. Double check how it performs in rough areas when the market has really gone against you.

you need to optimize values and you should definitly code in trailing stop loss. (depending on the algo, but i havnt seen one code that does not benefit from a trailing stop in some sort of way.)
