    Well the clock stroke 00:00 and I was still charged for PRT even though I wasn’t supposed to be charged because as they stated:

    We will turn off your access to ProRealTime at the end of the month. If you turn it back on, you will be charged SG$60 per month – the four-trade monthly minimum for free access will not apply to you.

    Manel I’m in the same situation with 2 accounts. One for testing and the other for trading. I’m okay with paying for PRT as long as it’s not faulty but from where I sit it’s not at good enough quality standard, either is the lack of “support”. Why do we not get a copy of the message we send through the support window? Let’s not delude ourselves.

    I spoke to an IG person the other day because many of my demo account systems had gone into “Stopping” mode and were stuck and I couldn’t even close them in IG platform and still can’t close some now. When I asked why? He said “you had too many orders at the same time and that’s why the error occurred”. Excuse me? Too many? Are you a professional trading broker with a reliable platform? I know its the Demo environment is not as good as the Live environment but it nevertheless concerns me. I’ve had one serious Live error on the platform.

    Manel it seems you’ve had more live experience with a lot of trading systems transacting at the same time – have you had any serious errors?

    Is the ‘common denominator’ in the tightening by IG re fees … where two (or more) PRT Live Accounts are being used and maybe the second (or more) are only traded the minimum times per month (4 or so?)?

    Answer from IG

    IG is no longer basing the rebate on 4 trades per a month, but rather on the frequency and size of the trades. There are no official values of yet, and each client is looked at on a case by case basis.

    The decision was based on your trading activity since the start of the year on all of the accounts that you hold with IG. In the future, if your trading size and frequency increases, you can be considered for the ProReal Time rebate.

    As of now I have disabled the Prorealtime platform and will bee looking for other broker!

    well we have not the full story, maybe IG have to pay more to prorealtime?

    but as i said before they could have done this in a better way

    and they do have other platforms but then you need a vps and (maybe) pay for that also

    I posted separately about opening a separate account with IG to link to PRT premium, there were all sorts of delays and misunderstandings and I was phoning twice a day last week to make sure it was moving along.  Within an hour of the account finally being set up yesterday I got a phone call from them asking me when I would be funding it and how soon I would be trading from it,  cheek of it.  I think they are running scared of the upcoming FCA rulings and are looking for ways to maximise their returns i.e. how to squeeze more money out of us.

    @ David – I haven’t had the error you are talking about but it doesn’t surprise me to say the least. This was my point exactly, how can they expect clients to trade when their platform has serious bugs – the least they could do is realise that it’s in their interests to let them have access as the longer the client spends on it the more likely they are to eventually trade using it.  I’ve had maybe one or two serious errors but annoyingly lots of little ones in live. For eg. just in the past 48hrs my PRT platform has gone a bit “mad” – prices only update in some lists, watchlists have some lines blank, charts open blank, the price bar on the chart shows the live price but the buy and sell buttons are delayed by 15-30 secs (!) (I mistakenly opened two trades without realising that the price was stale yesterday), the green push+ keeps blinking from light green to dark green….. insane….. It happened on two different computers so not an issue of hardware or connection. Needless to say IG’s response was – non existent !

    Anyway, with regards to this issue. It’s a purely financial (but very short sighted) decision. Grahal is right, they are only doing this on individual accounts regardless of the overall client trading volume as I only got this message on the account I use less frequently, Still doesn’t excuse it though, my commission earned by them on the trades in the other account would probably pay for 50 PRT subscriptions !

    I don’t think they are likely to change their mind in the near future on this. It’s what you get when some managers around a desk make executive decisions without having a plan on how to implement the execution of it.  I got charged the fee as well and I’ve asked them to refund it as my PRT was turned off on the morning of the 31st instead of midnight. Am fairly confident that I’ll get it refunded. However, it still leaves the bigger issue of what to do going forward though and in that regard for the time being we are forced to pay the fee unfortunately – or leave.

    Only way to fight this, is to disable prorealtime and find another broker. As we speak I am doing what I should have done from the beginning. Learning the most common platform- MT4. I’ve wasted around a year trying to code PRT and getting to know it- to say the least I’m pissed off!

    manel so the account you use most often (your main Live Account)  continues without attracting any fees for use of the PRT Platform ?

    ok, so they dont like that we open multiple accounts only to run proorder on demo and just place 4 trade live to keep it free of charge?

    maybe they have capacity problem on the servers?

    i am not going to speculate more on this, hopefully we can get more information from IG

    This shows how ill thought out their change was…..Ironically they state there is no minimum limit anymore in their email but they have not bothered to change their website settings. It still states if you trade 4 times a month then it will be free. So technically if you are brave and are ready for an argument later on, you could take a screenshot today as proof and activate and then you can get it free for another month (if you trade 4 times) – before they change their wording…..:-).

    Why do you prefer metatrader? It is a choice for skilled programmers, I guess?

    I’ve been looking into multicharts and tradestation to further my development.

    @manel: Little errors like your example are all over IG’s website. You know, when the spreads chnage due to some important event comming up, we receive a note inside the plattform and an email, but the tables on the website are not updated. Neither are the market-info sections inside the plattform…

    In my job we are a few people struggling to keep a website storefront up-to-date, so I never felt like complaining about IG for doing the same thing. So, when trading I check the spread and minimum stop level first, if it differs from my expectation or past experiences.

    Every single broker will try to make us pay for their own bottom line first. That is a matter of fact.
