    Well – unfortunately its struggling again. The order in IG Platform looks good (entry, limit, stop) but the related system in the DEMO account is on state “Beim Anhalten – stopping” and I cannot do nothing? until it gets terminated automatically. Live all good – thanks GOD.

    Jakub has commented on a connected problem reported by Bard in another topic so we at least now know that IG are aware of the demo issues.

    I decided this morning to put one of my codes in REAL, to really see if the real account replicate the errors and troubles of the DEMO. Fortunately, the REAL account is working just fine.

    I was trying a grid code in DEMO with several STOP/LIMIT pending orders and it was a mess. I thought at the beginning that the problem was the distance between the close and the new pending orders, but it is not. As I said, the same code in REAL is working just fine and displaying all the ending orders correctly.

    I know it was a dumb move but I have set the code to minimise contracts and risk. I am at breakeven right now, and I will stop the code this afternoon after I check throughly that the REAL account do not display any errors.

    Tonight on one of my demo accounts I have two strategies that I found stopped and that I have restarted three times only to look a few minutes later and find them stopped again. The same account has 32 orphaned positions open with a total position size of 33.3 which is currently running a £5850 loss. I guess I should just put it down to IG giving no priority to demo and deposit £20000 with them and put the strategies live – or maybe not.

    It would be nice to know if anything is actually being done to fix this.

    I personally have given up having my demo platforms open during the day or developing anything at the moment. I just fire the platform up once a day – restart any stopped strategies, try to close any orphaned trades and then shut it all down and walk away before I punch the laptop in frustration. Boat jobs suddenly feel like something really worth doing instead of wasting my time on demo trading – and with every day that goes by the chance of any of the strategies that I have on test going live gets slimmer and slimmer. I guess you could say that I have taken a leaf out of IG’s book and decided that demo trading is low priority.

    Some of my strategies have been on demo forward test for a year now but I can have no confidence in the results due to the unreliability of the demo trading experience. From some of the posts on here I know that I am not alone in feeling like this.

    Good post Vonasi and yes it does echo our thoughts and feelings!

    It would be great – and impact IG mindset more – if your comment was also posted on the IG Community Forum under the PRT Platform section.

    IG staff do check posts on their own Community Forum, but we have had no indication ever that IG read any posts on this website?

    Yes, I am feeling pretty much like Vonasi on this. Huge disillusion on programming right now since you can’t really test or rely on the DEMO. IG is shooting themselves in their foot by neglecting their DEMO accounts. In any case, we hope IG is aware about this problem.

    Also, PRT should assess if this binomial with IG is beneficial for them, since this kind of problem are undermining PRT reputation

    I have posted things on the IG forum before and found the answers to be very off hand. They are not interested in any posts that say negative things about the IG experience and so usually just give you the ‘demo is low priority’ line to end the conversation. The forums are so quiet that they then stop answering the topic and it dies and disappears even if you post a further comment. I would hope that PRT would have more success communicating with them directly than any of us ever could via the IG forums.

    Maybe … if PRT are indeed aware / read on here of the high level of our disillusionment?

    PRT don’t even appear to read the Topic dedicated to (our) suggestions for improvement of PRT?

    I agree. IG closed one thread that was getting countless comments on how bad their new Platform is for manual trading, in summary … loads of bells and whistles but the basics are not right!

    I hope PRT v11.0  does not turn out to be the same!?

    Unfortunately this is the way of things these days. Everything gets updated with new features just because they can or in some attempt to be better than the competition when in reality the basics that all these add ons are hanging off doesn’t work as it should. K.I.S.S. seems to have gone out of the window these days.

    At the moment I am trying to close hundreds of orphaned trades across three accounts (one trade at a time) as with them open other strategies are now stopping due to lack of funds. I now have tens of thousands of pounds showing as being lost manually on my demo account and loads of strategies that have missed trades due to this problem. Forward testing today has reached a new level of meaninglessness – I feel a glass of red wine coming on.

    This is what one of my demo accounts now looks like thanks to the mass of orphaned trades that I just had to close ( and this took me absolutely ages to do one by one – life is just too short!) Now the forward testing results for this account (and my other three) are meaningless and provide me with no accurate information on true performance. Brilliant.

    More red wine is needed I think.

    Naah just click into the New Platform and in left hand margin / menu click on Positions then on Aggregate / – then Close …. bang bang bang they all close together! 🙂

    Yippee! I just checked all three of my demo accounts and there were no stopped strategies and just one orphaned trade that came from God knows where. Maybe I just missed it from the hundreds that I have closed over the last few days. Did everyone else have such a problem free day or did I just luck out? Maybe IG/PRT fixed something? We can only guess.

    Oh dear – another Monday morning and another couple of stopped strategies, a whole bunch of rejected orders and four orphaned trades…. and there was me thinking everything had been fixed. At least two of my accounts managed to get through a whole weekend without stopping any strategies so I guess that is progress of sorts.
