Thanks PeterST. I’m not talking about trading through PRT. I just use for analysis/visual purposes.

What I don’t understand is why I can see premarket price (check my third image above) but no after hours price in real time. I will email support and see.

    Hello again Traste,

I suppose you can trust me on my previous post and explanation (I seem to be the only one on this forum workng with PRT-IB 😉 ). It is only that I was not 100% sure that you had an account with IB. So now more “definitive” :

Because PRT does not allow you to trade pre-/after-hours you also won’t have chart data. If you would have, you would be able to (seemingly) trade as well. This is just how PRT has been designed.

Next issue is that you surely have pre-market data (I am again referring to that yellow ball we *again* can’t see right now because USA is close today), but that you indeed do NOT have post-market data. I call this an idiot bug and someone does not understand at PRT development. Btw, at contacting them, you may refer to this topic at this forum. They would read that post-market data is way more important than pre-market because Q figures most often are issued the soonest after market (22:00 our time). Add to this that at that moment the biggest gains or losses can be made – you will probably know.

Solution for you as long as PRT-IB does not allow pre-/post-market trading : Fire up Trader Work Station from IB (TWS). All in there works like a drag (you will start to highly appreciate PRT), but it gives you the data you indeed surely are entitled to. You can even trade … (from 22:00 to 02:00 and from 10:00 to 15:30).
Alternatively you can use their Phone app, which really is the best; that too will show you pre- and post-market data.
You won’t need to pay for this, BUT small fees are asked for the real time data feed (like USD 5 per month for NASAQ and the same for NYSE).
Watch out : For TWS itself as well as the Phone app, the viewing of the pre-/post data is a setting which defaults to Off. So if you can’t see it, know that you did not find the setting yet. But don’t try it today, because of the closure.

    Peter

Vonasi, same response: my broker has nothing to do with this.

Your broker has everything to do with it. They provide the data and PRT just display it on their platform. The platform can only display what your broker sends to them. They choose to send a little bit of pre-market data and no after market data by the sound of it.

My broker is not connected to PRT. I’m not using PRT brokerage services. So, PRT is the one providing the data. If not, I wouldn’t be seeing pre-market prices, but I am seeing them.  I might be missing something…

PRT are not a broker. They are a platform provider. Your data comes from elsewhere.

Thanks, Peter. But I’m not using PRT brokerage services, so let’s take IB out of the equation. That’s why I need to pay for real time data. I see pre-market prices on the “last” field of the lists section.

PRT provides real time data once you pay for it. They get that data from exchanges, right, but PRT sends that data directly to you (attached img.).

Question here is why they only send pre-market and regular trading hours prices and NOT after hours prices. The same exchange that provides pre-market prices also offers after hours prices. I don’t have this problem with TradingView, which actually charges way less for real time data. Although PRT is much better platform!

    Thanks

Question here is why they only send pre-market and regular trading hours prices and NOT after hours prices.

The answer regarding this is and remains : because PRT development doesn’t provide it. It is a BUG.
Do notice that a year ago, PRT did also not provide the pre-market data (no yellow balls or other colors).
See the attachment and see that no Post (“After”) market text shows. This is also in the formal manual of PRT. “We now show Pre-market data – yahoo !” (this started somewhere with V11.1, not V11(.0)).

The fact that you use PRT-“Direct” only implies that you are related to IBKR and not to IG or an other. It is not important. However, the fact *that* you use IBKR as a broker (never mind you don’t want to use it), implies that you can get the data after all. Data, which is provided by a data provider via a “data feed” (hundreds of those exist). Thus, even if you don’t know it, you will have an account with IBKR just the same (and you can trade through them).

To specify the above a little more : Data is obtained via subscriptions. See the 2nd attachment for where you arrange those. But I suppose you already know.
And again : once you have the subscriptions, all dealt with by IBKR when you have a PRT-Direct license, you will have the real time data. If you don’t want to trade with that – fine. 🙂
And Yes, it would be correct that no IBKR account it required to have the Real Time data after all. With one of my PRT accounts I am the proof of that (possibly I am the only one with such an arrangement). But in that account too … no After hours or Pre hours data (except for the yellow ball which does show the price for pre-hours.

Especially the latter you could try to dismiss forever (useless – haha), BUT within weeks you will be able to trade with PRT-Direct pre- and after hours. En *then* you will see what you want. Trading you still won’t do, but the chart data will be there in full.
I am eagerly waiting for that myself …

Thanks! That answer really solves the question! I understand now that is a bug. I hope they fix it soon, because it makes no sense paying for real time and only have access to pre-market.
    Best!
