IG and PRT Demo results not the same.

I’ve been testing various demo strategies with PRT on my IG Demo account since mid January but I noticed today that things do not seem to be adding up the same on my ‘My IG’ page compared to the PRT results. So I exported all the trades into Excel and checked it out . I subtracted all the overnight fees and interest from the IG total so it should be the same as the total shown on the PRT ‘Detailed Report’ but it was miles out. I then noticed that the PRT ‘Detailed Report’ only showed trades from 12/2/2018 whereas IG showed trades from 07/02/2018. So I reworked the calculations removing the extra data and there was still a difference – much smaller at just £310 but still a difference. So first of all I don’t understand why the PRT and IG totals do not add up the same and secondly I don’t understand why the PRT ‘Detailed Report’ misses off the first week of trading? It is not a very detailed report if a whole week of trading is missing from the results! Can others please check their accounts and see if the start date on the PRT ‘Detailed Report’ is the same as the start date for the first trade in their IG demo trading account? These sort of errors make analysing strategy and portfolio performance quite difficult.

Your analogy is the wrong way round.

If PRT were the car dealer then they would give you a demonstration car with no wheels, no brakes, and no seats and then ask if you want to buy one that has got wheels and brakes but still no seats!

Although I guess at the moment if PRT were the car dealer then I have a demonstration car and a real car but have not paid for either of them yet.

Haha ! Yes, guess you’re right, didn’t quite come across the way I had it in my head ! I was thinking about the old baiting you in with style but no deep layer of substance ie you use the demo platform for a while and infer functionality based on logical conclusions (eg. the detailed report looks like a great tool but only because you haven’t hit the 1500 limit yet) but don’t quite realise every little issue or bug, then switch to live based on the experience and then start realising little drawbacks here and there that only manifest themselves with time and changing markets. But you have to make the jump at some point else you’ll never get anywhere. I know I for one only started noticing bugs and issues more after I had switched to live after 6-12mths of demo. Would I still have used PRT if I had known what I did back then ? Probably tbh as all things considered I still think its a good platform.

Dear all,

The limit in the number of trades that can be taken into account in the detailed reports is a technical limitation.

We are hoping to raise this number as much as possible in a future version.
