Strategies stopped due to rejected orders – lack of info

    I’ve had a couple of strategies on live demo test be stopped over the last couple of days. I would like to know why so that I can maybe code around the problem if possible but there is a lack of information as to why they were rejected. ‘Due to the type of rejection’ is not very helpful – nor is ‘Order request failed – please try later’. Orphaned trades are a reason never to go live with a strategy due to lack of confidence in it and so knowing why orders were rejected and so the trades orphaned is key information that we need.

    I had same reason – NO REASON GIVEN!

    Note – mine a Sell on DJI is same time (13:00 – 13:02 ish) as your Buy on EURUSD ??

    Looks like IG stopped talking to PRT then. If I sent a report I guess they would probably just say that it is low priority as it is demo.

    It takes an awful lot of nails. I’m not repeatedly criticising anyone or phoning them repeatedly about one issue – I’m just suggesting that it would be good for all parties if we understood better why orders were rejected. We would be able to have better confidence in our strategies and so go live with them which would benefit both IG and PRT. Win, win, win! More of a suggestion than a demand or a protest rally – so come on IG and PRT – give us more info on rejected orders please!

    Hi,

    We are dependant from IG ordering service. Sometimes they are not answering our order requests with a direct impact for client.

    • Stretegy places an order;
    • IG does not responde after 10 attempts. The order status becomes REJECTED;
    • Strategy is stopped.

    To avoid this issue we have extended the order placing from 1  to 10 seconds however we can’t do much more then this as it is an IG “issue”.

    is right, the same problem appears on other trading platform. It is not possible to send orders quickly after a previous try on IG servers, it often results a “too many requests” error.

    I guess the only way to stop strategies being stopped due to rejected orders then is to get IG to increase the tolerance before a ‘too many requests’ error occurs but I guess the downside to this is that the market may have moved a long way from the desired price?

    It seems that we just have to price in stopped strategies and orphaned trades as part of our risk and watch our auto strategies like hawks – which kind of makes using auto-trading instead of manual trading rather pointless.

    An auto-strategy with only a small edge could quickly be turned to a big losing strategy by just one orphaned trade.

    Maybe that cold be incorporated as a User setting … e.g. > 0,x% change in price, cancel Order!

    I’ve just noticed that I had a load more yesterday at 15:00 ish and also at 16:00 ish … what’s going on??

    Is this just on the Demo Platform?

    If so what is the difference between Demo and Live?

    Another two strategies stopped tonight with no reason given. Several positions orphaned.

    Yep I had the ‘Reject – No Reason Given’  at 16:00 yesterday 11 March and also a few at 08:00 today.

    No Systems stopped (< 10 Rejects in a row) and hence no orphaned trades.

    I couldn’t work out what was going on … I had showed + £750 ish current position profit on my IG Dashboard but next time I looked it had gone from the Profit / Loss column but the IG Funds column had not increased.

    Traced it to 5 orphaned trades which had turned from winners to losers and they had been crying out for some love and attention … but as they were orphaned they had no controls and had been left feral!

    I did check after the Rejects I reported earlier on this Thread but the the orphans must have been out of sight / below the fold on the screen and I missed the scroll bar!

    It depends whether you have selected to have stopped strategies close all trades or selected to have them left open and orphaned.

    No there is more to it than that as I just double checked and I have ‘Closed’ selected … always do on all my Accounts.
