I entered free trials for one month of all my algorithms in my store.
Here you can view them and have a free one month trial.

    Dear all,

The advanced volume profile pack including daily sessions VP and Composite VP is now made available through the “free trial” new feature as stated above.

More precisely, you can launch your free trial at anytime until end of august, for a duration of one week.

I hope you enjoy it. Feedback and requests as part of our continuous existing product improvement approach and/or next product developments are welcome, thanks for your time.

These are excellent news, thank you Nicolas for fast implementation!

I’m sorry for a potentially standard newbie question – is there a comprehensive manual someone stored explaining the entire marketplace process flows in detail (to understand how things have to be performed in detail)?

A newbie for example likes to ask this: if a seller offers a trial version, does the trial period start with the setup of the code in the buyer’s trading account? Or is the time limitation compiled into the code at the time of code preparation by the seller – so that the useful life time of the trial gets shorter the later a buyer downloads the trial after it has been published?

Once downloaded the trial version of my algorithms, if you want to put them in LIVE and you want to change the number of contracts in the algorithm kindly contact me through my store contact form* I have to send you a simple instruction to be able to change the number of contracts.
    Thank you
    Mauro

Not so fast, been working on that since June 😉

Consider the trial of a product as a free licence, but with an expiration. The trial begins at the time you create the license. So if you get a trial license today, but install it in 2 days, you have “lost” 2 days of free use.

If you like the product you will have to buy a classic license through the product page.

Another provider here who just activated the trial on all of our systems, thanks @Nicolas.  Until the next month, anyone can request a free two-week trial.

Also, our BT-only demo can be downloaded at any time (and the BT of the systems will continue working, in fact the ITF files was exported on May) –> bit.ly/34esfCP

If the trial usage of a product works such as described above, that it can be used a limited time only after the seller compiled it, one consequence is  that interested buyers might find the product only towards the end or even after the trial period has ended. Buyers can likely not follow the market each day or week, they may pause activities and come back after a while only. This means sellers might get repeatedly questions from buyers to provide an updated trial product, so it will generate a stream of additional effort (of course, only if seller decides to offer trials at all).

As a buyer, I only hope that sellers are open to provide trails repeatedly, and don’t get tired doing that. It is a bit unfortunate that the trial mechanism doesn’t work such that it takes the install date on the buyer’s trade platform as the beginning date of a limited period of time. Or that a trial version is unlimited, but can just be used on paper trading accounts to verify working principles.

I’m sure that the Marketplace will be a great success – coders will be rewarded for their work and more algos will be made available to those who can’t code their own – but I think it’s worth noting that it does seem to have killed the collaborative spirit of the ProOrder support forum. Since the Marketplace launch almost no one is posting new work there (myself included). It may be that people now realise there is money to be made by selling what they previously shared for free, or (as in my case) feel reluctant to post good working algos knowing that anyone could take it and, with minimal effort, hide the code and start selling it as their own.

I have numerous algos that are doing very well and making good money and I would normally have had no hesitation to share them for free, but the thought of someone else putting them up in Marketplace under another name pretty much kills it for me. Just saying.

It is a bit unfortunate that the trial mechanism doesn’t work such that it takes the install date on the buyer’s trade platform as the beginning date of a limited period of time.

The trial begins at the time you create the license, it is assumed that you are fully aware of this, so you know in advance that you should not create a licence the day before you go on holiday! 🙂
This is also another layer of security to avoid “reselling” serials in a discreet way by dishonest people.

Or that a trial version is unlimited, but can just be used on paper trading accounts to verify working principles.

In that case, if you trial a trading signals indicator, what would limit you to use that signals to copy the trades on your real trading account, forever? BTW, you are free to install the license on a demo or real account!

It may be that people now realise there is money to be made by selling what they previously shared for free […]  it does seem to have killed the collaborative spirit

Indeed, this has been the case since ancient times when people had the idea of reselling stolen objects to maximise their profits 😆 On a more serious note, visits to the site are lower and have been gradually declining since the end of containment in 2020 when we saw a massive explosion of traffic and open topics in all directions in the forums! It was a very difficult time for the moderation! 🙄 This may be what you are seeing now.

For any topic on the forum, only a few members are posting and sharing comparing to visitors, how many browse it and leech the content? So many!! Same story before and after the marketplace, it doesn’t change anything IMO. If someone wants to use your new trailing stop idea, he will and make money with/from it.

I have numerous algos that are doing very well and making good money and I would normally have had no hesitation to share them for free, but the thought of someone else putting them up in Marketplace under another name pretty much kills it for me. Just saying.

So please, what can I do to encline you sharing your most profitable strategies and to ensure the security of your IP? A private forum?

Regarding the license generation – based on your note above Nicolas, I understand the license validity period starts when a buyer clicks on the “Trial” button, so actually a buyer creates the code him/herself?

If so, than all is fine … I previously thought, it is the seller generating the code at a certain point in time, and a buyer just copies it. (Always good to understand details of how things work.)

    #175680

Many asked for trials to test products, at this time there are already 38 products available for testing for free. Seems that most of the vendors are encline to propose trialing, and that’s very cool.

For trading algos, you can test the OOS result between now and the last update date of the product you see on the product page.

    @johnsteed

Yes that’s right, sorry for misunderstanding. The trial start at the exact moment the user receive the license number by email and in his account dashboard on the website.

I think most / all of us eventually will post our code on the MarketPlace (MP) at least our better Algos that are seen to be making regular profit. This else keep them to / for ourselves only, but then we not get the feel good factor from fellow members saying how good the Algo is etc.

We don’t have to charge commercial rates to rent Algos and if we don’t want the money then it could be donated to a charity of the Author choosing; this could be stated in the respective Algo pages.

Using the MP will ensure that our code is not hijacked / stolen and so will encourage sharing again.

Also using the MP is a way of members giving something back (commission) to Nicolas as a thank you for his hard work making all this possible.

If enough of us post / rent via MP and commissions justify, then Moderators too might be offered a slice of the cake.  This in turn means we likely get more coding help to turn our trading ideas into profitable strategies and so we go from strength to strength?

    Just a few thoughts anyway.

Thanks Nicolas for the clarification how trail licensing works. That is a perfect approach to me. The new arrangements will for sure help finding the right tools. THANK YOU!

All good points, thanks for that!
