    There is nothing sure or reliable here. It all remains gambling with a certain advantage for the gambler, if you do it well. But not all of the time or forever. However, it is not a casino where you cannot win on principle.

    It is however somewhere where you can bet with money that you do not have. In a casino you know you will lose in the long run but all the chips you lose are your own. Margin means that we are betting with money we don’t have which I guess is why things are clamping down in the spread betting/CFD world while casinos are allowed to steal all your money quite unhindered. They can even give you free drinks to make you lose faster!

    Imagine casinos allowing gambling on credit ! You spend your evenings there, and tell them : sorry, I have no money, but I’d like to make some, so please take my 100 € and let me gamble until they’re used up ! At least you have the free drinks, then…

    That sounds like a great night out – right up to the bit where two very large men suggest that the management would like you to leave… and no you do not have time for another drink and yes they are going to escort you off the premises via the back alley.

    Unfortunately incentives have been banned so there is no possibility of IG providing us with free drinks any time soon either.

    Thanks guys for this interesting post.

    I don’t have much variables to optimize (usually default value, not prefer to change as well) but couple of filters to add/remove improve win rate & average gain based on optimize table.

    In my opinion, as long as effective filter is placed, the result won’t differ too much by changing variables. Optimize 100 variables is very fast (less than 2 mins) but optimize filters could take up to 20-30 mins.  🙁

    I always write custom indicators for visualise all the parameter involve in the strategy and from loosing trades I try to code scenarios for improve it.

    I have the same opinion. All the mathematical principles that will allow us to judge whether our strategy will always be positive in the future are only the result of statistical hypotheses that will never predict the future. But that’s all we have, so we do it with!

    I have no idea what the Ch’tis are – sounds like a rude word to my non multilingual dumb Englishman mind!

    Sometimes your random posts can kill an interesting thread dead in the water even if they are entertaining to those in the know! Even after a glass or two of wine I struggle to find the relevance in them. Even four or five glasses fails to help!

    I’d suggest sticking to sharing your obviously great knowledge on trading and automatic strategies and leave the entertaining YouTube clips to….. well You Tube I guess. 🙂

    Although they do say that some of the best minds are the most random…….

    It is not knowledge, only experience. For most people, experience of what does not work.

    Knowledge means something that works and is reproducible.

    Nicolas has made the best out of it and makes his living that way. We all appreciate this.

    The Chtis live in the vicinity of the city of Lille (where PRT is located), or better : Au Nord Pas de Calais. Google a little. And look for the movie in a Greek video shop. It was one of the most viewed french movies in the last 10 years, even the Greek may have it.

    Have you lost a bundle recently or have you now come round to realising “All is Folly” (Ecclesiastes ** ?) ??

    Maybe when we get Mutlti-Timeframe and better still Multi-Instrument then success rates may improve?

    The definition of knowledge is – facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.

    Knowledge is gained from experience of what did not work. By knowing what did not work we have a better likelyhood of now doing what might work. We have a theoretical idea to move forward with – otherwise known as knowledge.

    Unfortunately my knowledge has not progressed very far on why you keep posting videos from YouTube. I know why you probably shouldn’t so I guess that I am halfway there with that knowledge! 🙂

    p.s. Even Greece is now developed enough to no longer have video shops!
