I’m trying to get a backtest to work. I input the 3-minute chart with 200,000 units, but when I run the test, it only goes back a few days. Why? I’m going crazy.

What does it do on 100,000 units?

Also try 5 mins … no particular reason, just a step in fault finding.

    Hi there Dragonk,

What tells you that it is going back a few days only ? I am not saying that your observations are incorrect, but what are actually those observations ? For example, can you show us the contents of the chart after a backtest is finished ?

And a small hint : The content of the chart will (!) show the time span the backtest can run over. So there it starts.  But there are some pitfalls as well. So let’s start with the chart content.

    Regards,
    Peter

    hi

the dates tells me it dosent work. 200K unit 3m should be more the “start 25 jan 2024 and end 29 jan 2024.

    adding the whole backtest

Those dates come from what you can enter here (below at the mouse pointer). Does that help you ?

You should show the chart because that tells all. If it’s not in there, then it’s not there indeed. So ?

    “start 25 jan 2024 and end 29 jan 2024.

Have you got the above dates selected as shown in Peter’s screenshot?

Put another way … are selected dates overiding the 200k units you are expecting to see?

i need to go in there every time

You shouldn’t need to do above … set to Earliest Start date and Latest Finish date (or whatever the precise wording is oon PRT Platform).

What GraHal says. But you need to save the platform data after you set/changed that date. Via the main menu – File, or else Ctrl-S. Ok ?
