    I’ve just been told that an update will be done over the weekend to fix everything that’s broken with the algorithms. I’ll have to wait until Sunday evening or Monday to see if everything is working again.

    guys , it’s unbelievable the mess IG has created last weekend… all this mess for what ?  Has anyone managed to recover the trading reports for the instruments that have changed EPIC?

    What is changing?

    • New trading symbols will be added to the platform.

    • Your existing positions will be automatically transferred to the updated symbols.

    Please note: ProOrder trading systems may stop running during this migration, as the system interprets the update as manual intervention for safety reasons.

    Recommended action

    To avoid interruptions:

    • Before the weekend: stop all your active ProOrder trading systems.

    • Monday morning: restart your systems with the updated symbols.

    Step-by-step instructions

    Stopping ProOrder (before the weekend)

    1. Open the ProRealTime platform → Trading → ProOrder Auto Trading.

    2. Click Stop for each active system.

    3. Position management:

      • Default: the system will automatically close all positions opened by the strategy.

      • Custom: if you have selected “keep positions open,” you must manage these manually.

    Restarting ProOrder (Monday)

    1. Open the ProRealTime platform and select the market (the platform will automatically use the updated symbol).

    2. Go to Indicators and Trading Systems.

    3. Navigate to Backtesting and Automatic Trading → select your strategy → Prepare for automatic trading.

    4. Click Start, set your parameters (max position size, stops, etc.), then activate the system.

    This way they don’t have to answer for any losses as they warn you to close all positions. If you’re making a profit, that’s fine, but if they’re in a loss, why should I take this loss that could later turn into a profit?

    Then I would like to know how to close the algorithms with the Dax, they continue to work but are no longer visible in ProOrder.

    This is hilarious.

    So if I read this at this time (after midnight and close to two hours after markets are closed), how will I be able to follow up on the content of this email ? I will be too late and the same will happen again. I cannot close positions in normal fashion when markets are closed.

    JS tried his best at translating the email from Dutch, but I see his own interpretations have been put into that translation which makes it look more normal than reality depicts (or I received a different email). Below is the Google translation of the email I received (at 19:39 AMST indeed), which is a genuine 1:1 translation. Btw, it looks to be an email which should have been sent a week + 1 or 2 days ago. Today it makes no sense (to me). Regarding this, let’s keep in mind : an automated procedure (accompanied by an email like this) failed to start over a week ago (I think Nicolas wrote this or otherwise someone else did/knew). Was someone so stupid to send this email after all ? was IG even more stupid to activate this procedure a week after the fact ?
    That’s why this literal translation without interpretation could be of importance.

    Stopping your Pro Order trading system

    Default setting: The system automatically closes all positions opened by the trading system.     This is what I wrote this morning after seeing the thread elsewhere from @dipont. I did not post it because why. But I think it gets worse and worse, so I now post it after all.
    Please keep in mind that a. I wrote this long before the dreaded email and b. I think that this email was intended to be sent more than a week ago but the procedure involved failed.


    Seeing that people still have issues in areas where things should have been solved, I like to add this to the pile of sh*t :

    I had systems thrown out that were perfectly “normal” hence did not contain instruments or tickers subject to the changes. Also, I don’t use any too small fractions for (those) instruments, and still all was thrown out (and even started without me knowing when that happened (no proof to be found).
    The systems thrown out were the systems with current positions or pending orders. One could summarize this with : systems with order labels in the PRT charts. Now, I have more systems running which did not have order labels in the PRT charts, and they all nicely remained, and since Monday they also nicely created new trades which next exited as intended – no problem whatsoever.

    I feel that or the problems are not well known (see the list(s) from Nicolas to have the formal statements), or that not all is being told. To give a clear example of this, only yesterday my in PRT visible portfolio was restored, after filing a ticket about it having gone. Not all was gone, but the part subject to the systems killed was gone (was everyone’s portfolio fully restored by means of my ticket ? must people first call for it and thus must first know about it ? Heck, I only found out about it on Wednesday.).

    The moral of this post : changed / added Symbols looks to be a good idea to justify the further happenings, but just like I can see that I was not subject to these Symbols but *was* subject to the further misery, other people undoubtedly suffer from the same – waiting for things to solve which do not even need solution in the direction of changed Symbols. An example could be this one, from an other thread :

    I got a message about the issue with IG since last week and my strategy with EURUSD has stopped working since then but it still works with Nasdaq. Does anybody knows more about this issue? By the way, Tradingview with IG has stopped working in EURUSD or Gold…

    So EUR/USD ? Did Symbols (or whatever we / they call it) change for that ?
    If Nicolas’ list of remaining issues reflect this, then fine. But then it would be good to elaborate on the issues more so people can judge whether they are waiting for infinity or whether the wait is worthwhile because somewhere is really worked on “their issue”. Issues could also be about “I can’t find the trade data for this exited trade”. This would mean that $ may be gone unseen. I see not much difference with my case of the entered trade of which I cannot find the data. Did I file a ticket for that ? No. Not because I am coincidentally fine with that, no matter the position can only be seen in the IG platform. This already feels a lot better since the portfolio $ looks to be complete again.

    Here is some more oil to the fire, just because I am in a good mood. BUT it always comes down to something like you will see hereunder and it is always something we cannot deal with decently.

    So JS was (at first) written that he is responsible for his own trading, no matter the damage triggered outside of his (and my and all of our) responsibility or cause. In advance of that I already told (him) it would go like that, knowing the stance of ProRealTime SARL etc. (my own experience of a week before).
    But I also told that I did not throw out my positions and just let them stay … (the positions which made sense to me as a trader). Now :

    You could look back at the first page of this thread what those positions were, later added by another position which went in there automatically (most probably by means of a still pending order from one of the Systems thrown out by IG after all and what I can’t even prove). Thus … responsible for your own trading (or Automated systems if you want) …
    Letting stay those positions, so far brought me a month’s salary not all people will receive.

    But guys, this is not about my quality (or not) as a trader, but about lost income which springs from situations like this. So what disturbs me heavily is that now we are even “advised” to close positions which could bring money but obviously won’t when closed.
    … But we will never win a law suit over this …

    My estimate on lost income on IG situations only (thus outside of IBKR), is on estimate 150-200K. Yes, I am serious. I am taking about the 100s (!) of times Systems were thrown out while Jerome Powell did so much his best to hand me that money. But IG raises the stop distances and what not, and make fail my – and your systems.
    The very case at hand is no different, but in this case we foremost(ly) could decide ourselves, like I did (and luckily could). But, could I have put forward a claim of any sort when I would have thrown out my positions ? No, obviously not. IG or any broker or PRT would have told me : But it is up to you what to decide and if you decided to stay in then this is your decision.

    But now this email. This email – abusively or not – tells me to stop my systems, cleverly still tells me to decide for maintaining my positions or not, but meanwhile puts me / you in a position which is highly uncomfortable and impossible to decide except for the decision : okay, I’ll throw out all because that’s the stance of the advice.
    And next most probably will lose a lot on Monday morning on lost income.

    Think of upcoming Wednesday. This is (says me) the Day of Days for Traders. What if you have been influenced the adverse way and you stay out? Not that IG would gain by that, but you can earn a year’s salary that day. So you stay in against all advices and then … things go bananas and it is your own fault because IG did not give green light for entering again ?
    or (off topic) :
    You are in and the same thing happens which (Powell) happened dozens of times before ?
    Would there really be no case for such situations ? or simpler, like the one at hand ? To me it is unbelievable that with so much money at stake we are dealt with as an amateur gamer.

    Hi Peter,

    I also think you received a different email, because it was a literal translation…
    Perhaps the emails you get from IG are only sent to the real big players (>150-200K)…

    Luckily, we now have the “genuine 1:1 translation” thanks for that…
