Justisan, you must have the patience of a saint 😅 Don’t you ever get impatient? I guess you’ve been hardened by situations like this before!
09/10/2025 at 8:02 AM #250611Hello everyone,
Following the recent disruptions caused by IG’s migration of instrument lists, here is the latest update on the situation:
-
Nearly all instruments have now been restored in the platform.
-
Some users may still see duplicate instruments: please note that only one of them is tradable.
-
IG has confirmed that refunds will be processed. The procedure is as follows:
-
Open a support ticket with IG (either directly or via the Help menu in the platform).
-
IG will perform an internal analysis of the specific order(s) affected.
-
A refund ticket will then be opened. Please be aware that this process may take some time, as more than 10,000 orders were “moved” to new instruments by IG.
-
The root cause of the issue was that around 20 instruments (including major ones such as EUR/USD, BTC, GOLD, …) were split into nearly 200 different versions (depending on European regions) with new identifiers, which created unexpected disruptions in live trading.
I will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as they become available.

I am definetely a saint, and because I am one, I just chill on the sofa, enjoy my espresso and wait until all others here in forum (possibly lost lot of money due to weekend’s desaster) contact IG, contact PRT and supply me with real-time updates on the situation.
09/10/2025 at 12:55 PM #250624I received a response regarding Prorealtime’s functionality with IG.
This is the email I just received:Hi Mauro,
“The fix hasn’t been applied yet, so you won’t be able to trade on any of the new markets until the fix is implemented.”This response is about Algorithmic Trading.
09/11/2025 at 9:51 AM #250685Hello,
Update on IG instrument migration – current status
-
The incident pop-up has been removed.
-
New instruments are now searchable and available on charts.
-
Both manual trading and automated trading are stable again.
Remaining issues being addressed
-
Some instruments still show gaps in historical data (fix in progress).
-
A number of users see duplicate instruments – this is an IG-side problem.
-
Strategies linked to old instruments that became unusable must be stopped and restarted by clients with the new instrument linked.
-
Migration of historical orders and positions is under review.
I will continue monitoring the situation and share further updates as IG progresses on these last points.

09/11/2025 at 10:07 AM #250687Nicolas, thanks for the update for all of us. I’ve also been in contact with IG/PRT and it seems they are working on it, just like you mentioned.
My main issue right now is that there’s no available data before November 9th on DAX40, [except on the 1-day timeframe]. If I go below that, no data is shown. This makes the problem to run systems that rely on historical data, since they stop and throw an error saying there isn’t enough data to calculate at least one indicator, and the recommendation to use defparam preloadbars = 10000, but in this case 10k bars simply don’t exist.
I just wanted to confirm with you directly instead of contacting them multiple times and wasting their time answering the same questions instead of focusing on fixing the issue. When you wrote “Some instruments still show gaps in historical data (fix in progress)”, is the situation I described what you meant, or is it related to something else?
Thanks a lot for clarifying!

However, there’s now a new error message stopping the system: server.strategy.probacktest.error.missing_data.call
09/11/2025 at 2:52 PM #250697Email from IG (15:44):
Dear Jacob,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the recent EPIC migration and the resulting impact on your US Tech 100 position on the ProRealTime (PRT) platform. We understand how frustrating this must be and appreciate your patience.
An incident has been raised with our relevant teams to investigate the matter further.
The reference for this is: xxxxxxxxx. We are currently reviewing the details and will get back to you shortly with an update regarding your request.
If there is anything else we can assist you with in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Kind regards,
Aqib09/11/2025 at 3:29 PM #25069909/11/2025 at 6:24 PM #250730Good evening all. My automated trading strategy keeps failing after the close of the first candle upon going live. The attached error message appears. Does anyone know if this is a PRT/IG server issue, or a code issue from my end. Have sense checked the code and all appears to be ok. Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks
09/11/2025 at 7:36 PM #250732It’s most likely not a code issue. I’m experiencing the same on my system, which has been running without problems for years.
