    Hi all,

I’m about to start and practice trading based on volume profile. All education I’ve found on the web is connected to using Ninja Trader platform, which I don’t like very much. I prefer PRT, however I was googling all over internet, but couldn’t find anything that might help. Also I was trying to find the PRC marketplace, but no luck. So is there anything like the marketplace? Or more specifically is anybody using volume profile for trading on PRT?

    I’m interested in both
    1) fixed volume profile drawn on the chart for preselected periods – e.g. if I’m using daily of 4h time frame, I’d like to have volume profile for each week on the chart
    2) flexible volume profile – voume profile for selected range, e.g. I want to see volumes only for certain trending period, not based on hours/days/weeks
    (see examples)

    Thanks a lot

    Peter

Do you know that any volume provided on IG PRT is only the volume generated by IG Clients using PRT (nearly 1 million worlwide)?

In other words IG PRT volume is not the total exchange volume for any given instrument.

Of course I know that. I would compare it to  VP from FXCM provided through Ninja Trader. If it is more or less the same I would use it, because NT is very bad.

However, I don’t know where from it feeds data on forex when you buy premium PRT. Also I know that there is an option to buy “Market profile” as an add-on, but I don’t think it is necessary to pay the monthly fee if there is an option to buy an indication if there would be one.

petermarton – This is a discussion regarding an indicator and not really a general discussion topic so I have moved your topic to the ProBuilder forum which is where indicators should be discussed.

The following topics may be of interest to you:

    https://www.prorealcode.com/prorealtime-indicators/tac-volume-profile-intraday/

    https://www.prorealcode.com/prorealtime-indicators/bull-bear-volume-by-price-levels/

With multi time frame and arrays now available in PRT much more is possible now so perhaps you could adapt these codes?

With all my respect your statement is not so valid :
1 – You can use PRT with IB with a true volume data feed.

2 – If you compare volume on an official data feed and the one provided with IG feed you would notice not much difference for a “low cost but still pertinent” volume analysis.

The fact is PRT Market Profile tool even by paying a 30€/mo  fee is sh*tty compared to what other plateform can offer. (Close to the words from the PRT guy over the phone)

I think most of their clients do not use such tool and they simply do not care investing ressource and time in something not asked by customers right now.

I’ve seen both before, but it’s not what I’m looking for. It would take me ages to get oriented in the code and adjust it to my needs…

No problem, but my concern was also that I cannot find anything like marketplace. So it’s not launched yet or it’s hidden somewhere?

On the other hand, if somebody would be willing to code such indicator, that is an option too.

There has been some delay in the launch of the Market Place due to legal requirements and various tax implications I believe. Nicolas is the one coding and creating the site and dealing with all the issues and I am sure that he is as frustrated by the delays as every one else is.

If you can define exactly what your indicator is expected to do and how your trend periods are exactly defined then I’m sure someone could help. An exact definition is needed as coding an abstract idea just results in a lot of wasted time for the coder when they code what they think you want rather than what you know you want!
