    Anybody else ever had this?

Try to set a Trailing Stop on a Manual Trade, as you can see from attached I tried to set the TS at – £1475 (for the sake of this example / Issue),  so over 730 points below the tradeprice to go Long.

Then I get the message attached, which you would think is telling me that I need to set the TS at -£20.

    Well weird or what??

Any thoughts or comments anyone please?

In my platform is show ts on the stop if setting a trailing stop, your screen shot appears to show a normal stop

I might be wrong but it says it needs to be at least 10 pips, and ur trying to set it at 9,9?

Where do you get 9.9 from please?

I tried to set the TS at numerous  levels between 10 and 1475 … see the red arrowheads on attached.

I’ve got it now … it was a joke, right? 🙂

ur trying to set it at 9,9?

    I woke with how you got 9.9 …  (1475.40 – 36.5) / (73 x 2) =  9.86 ??

    But with …
    Trade Price = 26743.2
    Lot size = 2
    Min TS distance = 10
I should have been able to set a TS at 26723.2  (20 points below trade price)
I tried to set TS all the way down to    26042  but kept getting the error message in my 1st post above.

My conclusion from my experience (and similar repeated instances) is that IG just do not let us set Trailing Stops at any price at certain times / under certain conditions.

My theory as to why … is that Trailing Stops make it difficult for IG to run a balanced book  (as the potential outcome is shifting all the time) so they ban Trailing Stops under certain conditions (time, volatility etc)??

I have had loads of experiences like this. Its run like a casino. CFD brokers don’t just make their money from the spread they do everything to maximising your loss,s  and minimising your gains. If you could jam your stop up to 1 pip instead of 10,  they would make heaps less money on your loss,s.
