Trading Made Simple – TMS system

This is the first topic of a series to introduce manual trading system that have made proof over time as I could have seen all over the internet forums, about trading. If you’re feeling not a technical analyst or like playing with indicators those threads will be your favorites ones 🙂 The TMS system aka “Trading Made Simple” is a common one. It first been post by ‘eelfranz’ in the forexfactory forum in 2011. Since, it has been traded by many with good results. I would like to make the indicators to trade this system available to the PRT traders community, so here there are. I have never trade this system before, but i can consider give it a try if any would like to test it along with me or have any experience with it. Please give advices if you can ! 🙂 The TMS system is made of 3 indicators which the central one is the Trader Dynamic Index. Here is the complete chart template : _ price is Heiken Ashi style _ Simple Moving Average, 5 periods, shifted 2 with typical price _ the TDI indicator below, default configuration (see download link above in the indicators library) The basic rules of entries are : The yellow moving average is a visual reference on the main chart. When a candle cross the MA, the green line of the TDI cross also the red line. If TDI is rising up, that’s a long trade and a short one when it is declining. False signals may occur often if you take care of the main trend (higher timeframes). Also, good signals may take place when the crosses occurs in the overbought (above 68 line) and the oversold (below 32 line) areas. Exit trades when the TDI cross again or the green line is going flat. Of course like any other indicators made of system, the higher the timeframe, the better signals. As i’m not the author of this strategy, i would recommend to trade it safely and to adapt it to your trading style. If you want to make change to the original strategy, please feel free to do it and to post your improvements in this forum thread.

Ok, i have my template. But can I launch the screener asking the system to check just a specific list? Sorry for boring you, Pascal, please answer me only if you have time… I can understand that this question is a personal question and I don’t want to bore the Forum. Many thanks, ciao. Fabio

ouch… I’m making some mistake for sure but I cant understand where is my error… it seems that the Screener doesn’t screen the list… And i have written the code, without pasting and copying. Any idea about my possible mistake?

ciao Nicolas, sorry for insisting, I need your help… what kind of clues could I give you to sort out my problem :-)? Really sorry but I cannot screen my list… I am not able to find my errors… Thks a lot (please let me know if it is better I continue this discussion in the “ProScreener Support”, maybe I am in a wrong area?

I like this, but please forgive the daft question … is this a Screener or an Indicator or both?

It has the words ‘Screener’ on the bottom line of the code and so PRT reads it as a Screener.

I have it working as a Screener with some results showing ‘0’ under the ‘Criteria’ column. (1 for Long and -1 for Short may be useful?)

In Nicolas first post he says ….

10 mins later … I’ve thought about it a bit more … I guess I run the Screener, then select instruments of my choice and have Heiken Ashi Candles on my Charts with Simple Moving Average, 5 periods, shifted 2 with typical price?? I would expect to see as Nicolas shows in the first post at the top of this topic?

Any comments appreciated.

Silly old me … had I read previous posts a bit slower then I would have seen that Nicolas had already answered my confusion in the last post on Page 1 – 06/08/2016 at 1:11 PM.

It’s a pity there isn’t a delete button on here as then I would delete my ramblings in the previous message.

However, I persevered and added the code ‘Return as … etc’ in place of ‘Screener … etc’ and thus turned the Screener into a ‘Trading Made Simple’ Indicator. I taught myself a bit in the process and that’s what this Site is all about.

Fabio, I’m sorry but I can’t figure out what is your problem. I have just screened successfully the whole commodities market on daily timeframe with results (picture attached).

Fabio, have you tried screening maximum numbers of all instruments (Forex, Commodities, Indexes) and also with maximum number instruments selected keep trying across all timeframes one after another … until you get some hits / results?

Reason I say above is that I thought the Screener wasn’t working at first and even with ‘max everything’ (as described above) there are very few results.

However, when I turned the Screener into an Indicator on my Charts I proved to myself that there are results … see the very bottom indicator on attached.

Yes, indeed. I have tried all the possible combination 🙂 crossing lists and time frames. I am sure that i am making a mistake somewhere. I have a last thing to do, since i copied and pasted the code, there’s the possibility that an error had been generated. I’ll write the code ex-novo.

Fabio you may have missed the file that Nicolas provided … just click, save and import into PRT. Here is the file …

TradingMadeSimple screener

There are specific instructions on the site on how to import into PRT … just say if you can’t find the instructions?

ouch… I’m a stupid… I was insisting… thinking that I imported the file… and it’s not the first time I needed to import a file… bah!!!!

Now Screener and Indicator work very fine, on my list and for my preferred time frame… changing the code as per your suggestion in a former post.
