Strategy shutting down

    Hi all,

    I have a “small” problem with strategies shutting down as soon as I close Prorealtime.

    Just to be clearer they don’t go to the “Not Running” they completely disapear.

     

    In order to run the strategies I have to keep PC on 24 hours a day and ProRealTime open.

    I’m running Windows 11.

    If anyone has a solution please let me know.

    Hi, never encountered this issue before. So you mean the strategies were running the ProOrder window, and after closing and re-opening the platform, they no longer appearing the ProOrder window?

    Did you made a technical report about this issue? If not, please do it and add this forum topic URL in the message.

    You are correct: Strategies are now running no problem but as soon as I close platform they shut down and disapear.

    If it was a problem with the code then I would expect them to go to Not Running but that is not what is happening.

    I have no idea how to create technical report or how to submit it.

    When you work with the API from ProRealTime, trades would not run server side but on your PC.  I would expect related behavior with AutoTrading.
    Do you recognize anything from an API ? (this would be visible by the way you start the PRT platform).

    Is this PRT-IB or PRT-IG ?

    Hi Peter,

    many thanks for your response.

    I’m using IG and this behavior didn’t happen whit my old PC running Windows 7.

    Since I have upgraded to Win 11 problem started but I thought it is because I was running strategy on Demo account.

    Now I’m running it on Live account and same is happening. As soon as I close PRT strategies stop and disapear from trading window.

     

    I have heard API before but to be honest I have no clue what it means or where to find it.

    It looks like I will have to start my old PC and let it run 24/7 (cost of energy will kill me)

    It looks like I will have to start my old PC and let it run 24/7

    PRT will automatically close every 18 hours anyway!

    I have no idea how to create technical report or how to submit it.

    On PRT Platform go Help > Help Center > I’m having a Technical Problem

    A Technical Report is made through the Help function in the platform. See below – bottom option.

    Yes I do click save religiously before I shut down PRT.
    I’m saving work pretty much every time I do something.

     

    Strategy shutting down is not the only problem.

    Whenever I press “Run backtest” window with the code disapears and I have to manually re-launch it.
    I can live with that but leaving PC running all day while I’m away is just a waste of electricity.

    In order to dismiss that the problem is related to the code (but I can’t imagine how or why) I / we need to run your code n our platform? Oh no, not good me doing it as I am on Windows 10.

    Do you want to post your code on here? If not then you could email it to a kind soul to who has windows 11 … Peter are you on windows 11, Patrick what about you? Shug maybe??

    All Good!

    I backtested it on EURUSD 5 min TF, all as normal!  I then closed backtest, the equity curve etc disappeared but the code was still listed on the left-hand side of the Backtesting and Autotrading window.

    I then set it going on my Live Account on 5 min TF and I let the time come up to a full 5 minutes to check the code being read on the 5 min bar etc.

    I then closed my Platform and re-opened and the strategy is still running in the Running Systems in the ProOrder Autotrading window.

    So all Good with nothing unusual noted on Windows 10.

    I had to comment out the GRAPHS, but you would also else it would not run on ProOrder.

    Mmm … a weird mystery?

    We need somebody with Windows 11 to do the same as I have above.

    thank you very much for your time it is much appreciated.

     

    Good news is that code is ok but bad news (worst for me) is that there is something not right with Win 11 or my PC which will be much more difficult to solve.
    If we find someone else with Win 11 to confirm my problem then I will send report to help desk.

    Anyone with Win 11 around ??

    If you select a few words or a phrase in a post then click on Quote, only the few words will get Quoted.

    Also if we are replying – but not to any particular phrase etc and particularly as in the post above –  there is no need to Quote at all as fully Quoting makes the overall website  slower to load (if we all Quoted every post in full etc).

    Just a few tips to keep the Mods happy!

    Yes we need a Windows 11 user … one will be along soon surely??

    WTH is going on ???

    Out of the blue I have 6 strategies running at the same time and some of them with yesterday’s date.

    I’m not blind that’s for sure LOL.
