Pathfinder Trading System

Hi guys, this topic is for all discussions related to the Pathfinder trading system strategies. The system based on four components that work perfectly together. signalline – instrument trend line based on two smoothed averages (Wilder and Time Series) breakout levels – previous daily, weekly and monthly high/lows in combination with fast and slow averages as filters because not every breakout is profitable saisonal behavior – position size will be boost with a multiplier for each month depending on the historical seasonal behavior smart money and position management – grid orders, maximal position size monitoring, superordinate stop loss/take profit, trailing stop and maximum holding periods are used mechanisms The Pathfinder breakout logic works well for many instruments with 24 hour quotes such as DAX, DOW, FTSE, Hang Seng, NIKKEI in 4 hours timeframe. All versions are optimized for an 10k Euro account. Pathfinder strategies offer a statistical advantage but are of course not a holy grail and there is no guarantee to make money with it. The systems are optimized for historical data and historical gains are not a guarantee to be successful in the future. I strictly recommend to adjust the position sizes to your personal account size and try first in demo mode. The results in life trading will differ from the backtest results. I also recommend to start in life trading with a small account size. Anyone can use the programs for free and at their own risk. Pathfinder is my private and fully transparent algorithmic trading project exclusively implemented for ProRealTime 10.3. The status is experimental and I don’t trade all the systems presented here. DOW didn’t take position for me because the order was rejected. Error message “AccountID does not have permission for Epic + Locale combination”.

Anyone happen to know what that means? 🙂

Also got some DAX errors “position does not exist”, so that trading system also stopped. Strange, since I can’t find any other error like on Dow…

AccountID does not have permission for Epic + Locale combination … means that the epic code / instrument you selected to trade on is not allowed for your country.

Select another epic code that is ‘nearest looking’ (to epic code not allowed) and it may work okay.

Same happened to me and that is how I solved it for me.

Ok thanks for answer. PRT shows two of different Dow Jones called “Wall Street Cash (1 Contract)”. Maybe none of them works from here… So I searched on the IG page instead and found “Wall Street Cash (2$ minikontrakt). Suppose it should work better 🙂

I know it sounds daft, but that’s what happened for me. You would think IG / PRT would identify the epic codes so they are different (-A on the end would do) rather than us having to do a trial and error.

hi guys,

My Ftse has changed from a long position to a short at 12pm. Looking at the chart I cant understand why.

On the pathfinder indicator the signal line has not fallen below the monthly high or the daily low so I’m puzzled to see why it has entered.

Anyone had the same ?

Yeah. I have +1 and -1 on Dax at the same time….which doesn’t make any sense at all…also strange error messages with “position not found”… Something is clearly wrong with it.

Ok, that’s how it should be. I guess some bug happened and it couldn’t find and close the position for me. Got it running on two demo accounts and it’s the same for both… I’ll close the longs manually.
