Hi guys, this topic is for all discussions related to the Pathfinder trading system strategies. The system based on four components that work perfectly together. signalline – instrument trend line based on two smoothed averages (Wilder and Time Series) breakout levels – previous daily, weekly and monthly high/lows in combination with fast and slow averages as filters because not every breakout is profitable saisonal behavior – position size will be boost with a multiplier for each month depending on the historical seasonal behavior smart money and position management – grid orders, maximal position size monitoring, superordinate stop loss/take profit, trailing stop and maximum holding periods are used mechanisms The Pathfinder breakout logic works well for many instruments with 24 hour quotes such as DAX, DOW, FTSE, Hang Seng, NIKKEI in 4 hours timeframe. All versions are optimized for an 10k Euro account. Pathfinder strategies offer a statistical advantage but are of course not a holy grail and there is no guarantee to make money with it. The systems are optimized for historical data and historical gains are not a guarantee to be successful in the future. I strictly recommend to adjust the position sizes to your personal account size and try first in demo mode. The results in life trading will differ from the backtest results. I also recommend to start in life trading with a small account size. Anyone can use the programs for free and at their own risk. Pathfinder is my private and fully transparent algorithmic trading project exclusively implemented for ProRealTime 10.3. The status is experimental and I don’t trade all the systems presented here. Nur um sicher zu sein ist es richtig, dass V6B2 jetzt mit 6 CFD long’s ist? Wenn ja habe ich den Fehler beim Oil Trade vor einiger Zeit gefunden. Die Max. Positionsgrösse wurde meinerseits falsch eingestellt.

Just to be sure, is it right that V6B2 is now with 6 CFD long (3 @ 10724 and 3 @ 10882.7)? If so, I have found the error at the Oil Trade some time ago. The maximum position size was set incorrectly from my side.

Hi MichiM,

I can confirm a second postion at 10882 (cross over monthly high) and Pathfinder is 6 contracts long. I hope that’s the expected breakout and the start of the year end rally.

Hi Guys
Here is the idea to milk the Swiss cows. Pathfinder also makes a profit at the SMI every year, but the profit trades are only 61% and the drowdown is unfortunately too high. Maybe someone has a suggestion for improvement.

Hi Reiner – lovely couple of trades today on the 4h & 1h.

For some reason I only have the one trade on the 4h from 10724. There was no additional trade at 10882. I can’t see any reason why in PRT, no rejected orders etc…

then something is wrong with your setup (max position size) which prevents order cumulation.

Hi guys,

I have created new versions of the Pathfinder DAX family (4H, 1H, 1D and daily). Here are the changes:

incorporation of Pfeiler’s idea to separate the month into two parts for a better determination of the monthly saisonal multiplier (simple but great idea)

clean the code and remove anything that isn’t needed for the relevant timeframe

parameter settings are now optimized with priority for drawdown and profitability

Hi Hakan,

Thanks for your post and welcome. There is no further documentation available. All information you’ll find here in this forum. You can use Pathfinder as it is, the parameters of the last versions V6B2 or V6 are up to date. Please verify wether the position size fit to your account size. For the DAX I recommend 10k Euro or with less money please reduce the saisonal multiplier (e.g. for December from 3 to 1).

Don’t hesitate to ask if something isn’t clear.

Hi Reiner

DFB is daily funded bet, available in UK I believe, its spread betting. I like using this as there is no tax to pay in the UK because the tax rules say you dont pay tax on bets.

In my IG account I can use either DFB or CFD.

Sorry for the confusion, didnt realise this was only available in the UK.
