I spotted some orphaned trades this morning in my demo account. – obviously all running at a huge loss! I think they must have been from when PRT had some recent issues and a few of my strategies got stopped. I have my platform set to leave any trades open if a strategy gets stopped and so I should really have checked as soon as I spotted the stopped strategies. I thought that I would post on here the best way to check just in case any newbies don’t know this.

The best place to check for orphaned strategies is in the ‘Open Positions’ window. Positions still under auto control will have a cog next to them and  positions under manual control will have a ‘x’ next to them to close the position. If you click on the ‘+chart’ next to the position then a chart will be opened and you can then find the position and manually add stops and targets or close it if you want. It is best to do this check every time a strategy gets stopped even on demo as it is good to get into the habit for when you are trading live..

With the live platform you can now set alerts to email you if a strategy gets stopped and everyone should do this so as to get the earliest possible notification of a problem. See here for details:
