I setup an IB account sponsored by PRT.  I’ve just been told by my account manager that I must register as a “Professional Investor” before one-click ordering can be enabled.  She says this is a requirement from IB and it is beyond their control.  Otherwise, I will always be presented with an order validation box before an order is submitted.

I don’t understand the bit about this being an IB restriction as I have one-click ordering in TWS (it is just a tick box in the global settings – no paperwork required)!

I’m really keen to use PRT for trading but I’ve come up with a blank with my account manager.  Before I ditch the idea of PRT, does anybody have an insight or ideas?

    Use PRT with IG?

I’m not aware of any 1 click restriction with IG?

    Hi,

If you want to remove validation popups, you need to ask ProRealTime (ant NOT IB) to be categorized as a professional investor.

It seems my colleague confounded with another type of request (US ETF Trading permissions) that requires you to be categorized as a professional investor both for PRT and IB).

If you want  to ask ProRealTime to be categorized as a professional investor:

    • Start your ProRealTime trading workstation (your real account and not the PaperTrading version)
    • Go to Settings > Trading > Manual trading
    • Under “Order validation”, in response to the question “Do you want to be asked to validate orders?”, select “Never”.
    • The request form will open in your web browser

Note that regulations require that you respect certain criteria as listed in the form. If you do not respect at least 2 of the 3 criteria, we can not classify you as a professional, or activate the “One click trading service”.

    Regards,

    Pierre,

I understand that I need to request removal of 1-click ordering with PRT and not IB.  I also understand that PRT say this cannot be done without being categorised as a professional investor.

What I do not understand is why I can have 1-click ordering with IB in TWS without being a professional investor.  How are IB able to offer this facility to me but PRT cannot?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

This is due to the fact that ProRealTime is registered as an investment services provider in France, and therefore is not subject to the same regulations as Interactive Brokers.

Thank you, that makes sense now.

If I register as a professional client with PRT to satisfy French regulation, may I retain non-professional status with IB?

    #124253

    Yes you can.

And what about pricing? If I register as a professional client with PRT only to remove the one-click trading popups, then my PRT subscription prices will be increase ????
