    Hey all!

Then it was time to sum up the year 2019.

No nice graph just BUT the year ended on plus even though it is small money.

Am pretty new to this and have learned a lot this year.

Especially good has been Nicolas’s constant remark that my algo is over optimized.

They have usually been over optimized.

Attaches a graph of what my algo year looked like.

    How has your 2019 been?

Think it’s great that everyone is so helpful here on the forum 🙂

    Merry Christmas to all

Hey that’s GOOD … you’ve managed to stay above above 0 with all your trades!

    Well Done You Stefanb !

Yeah staying above zero is a brilliant start, on wards and upwards from here

    @Fran55
    bad/filth/offending words cannot be used.

Criticizing can eventually be done using appropriate correct language. You’ll achieve the same result being polite.

If what you want to express cannot be done politely, then it’s not worth posting.

    Thank you 🙂

A little curious what @fran was complaining about.

See that he deleted the message.

I know it is not a good result I have achieved but it could have been worse.

I am learning more and more thanks to the forum and I am very happy about that.

Hope to be able to show better results next year and avoid patronizing complaints 🙂

    I  deleted the bad word.

    Ok @robertogozzi

Maybe it was good that I didn’t read the bad comments 🙂

If it is good criticism it can be good so that you can change things that you do wrong ..

To return to the topic, it would be fun to hear how your algo year went 🙂

My 2019 has been filled with up and downs.

I think its fair to say that my systems where built to outperform when times are bad, but by default most will underperform when its really good times.

2019 turned out to have alot of trends but also alot of choppy crazyness in the mix.
Overall im profitable and so far so good. I wish i could have seen more profits considering how the major indicies have done and me being “long only” on most of my strategies for indicies. But with a market that can just keep going up is nice if your already in the market, but its not so nice when your waiting for a buy signal that never comes :/

I have done roughly 1300 trades in 2019 with a winrate of about 55% but a low profit facotor. Not all systems have been profitable in 2019 but most have.

can add that i activated all my algos (running 18 atm) in october 2018 so 2019 has been a year for testing everything out. Learned alot and still got alot more to learn, but most importantly i have seen profitable systems and this greatly boosts my confidence in both the creation-phase but also the live trading phase. Havnt lost sleep over systematic trades in a long time.

Have also met a couple of problems that i have really not liked, this has been both PRT’s fault and IG’s fault.. IG is my broker and its been an OK ride so far.

btw, october 2018 was beyond insane 😀 glad thats over but im also very glad i got to witness a full on batshit crazy volatile market, daily had 5-15 trades going on on the same time, and my account size is honestly too small in my opinion for that kind of crazyness 😀 Now that its over tho im so glad i got the experience. has helped alot.

    J.

Awesome, I’m going to activate my GBP/JPY strategy this week.

How were your backtest results compared to the results you are showing here?

    #115991

My real result vs backtest has been everywhere from “Not even close” to “very close but not as good” to “this looks exactly the same”.
