Still running a demo account on IG at the moment until I have enough bankroll to start live.
I have been studying the videos and practicing with PRT, but was wondering if I pay for an indicator or auto trader in the marketplace , will it work on PRT for a demo IG account?

Yes, but as a final check before buying, ask / email the vendor to confirm it will work on Demo.

And please be aware one marketplace license is for one PRT account only, not for one user and all PRT accounts owned by that user… So you won’t be able to transfer a license from your PRT demo account to your PRT live account.
Now if the product is rented, not owned lifetime, let’s say on a monthly or quarterly basis, you could simply unsubscribe your rented product applied to demo, and start a new subscription for your live account if you want to use it live.
But if it’s a lifetime license (or even a yearly rental and you want to switch long before the end of one full year), then you definitly need to consider your license cannot be transfered from demo to live before making a decision to purchase for demo.

Licences can be “transferred” with a request directly within the form on the contact page of the marketplace website. Of course it is limited to one time only.
