I am optimising my previously posted Triple EMA RSI Optimised Strategy(https://www.prorealcode.com/topic/triple-ema-rsi-optimised-strategy/) and would like to use some of your help to make this work better on shorter timeframes.

So I have few questions –

    1. How to avoid trading during sideways markets? (Because on shorter timeframes spread kills you)
    2.  what other indicators can I use alongside EMA, RSI for better confidence in my trades?(using MACD we do missing out on the cream of profits)
    3. What would be best exit plans for a strategy (EMA crossover or TP or SL)?

If you have any ideas/suggestions , please post.

    Thanks,

    Naveen

    1. Very good question, no one really knows how to avoid something that is already happening! If we would know how to early avoid a ranging market, we should also be able to know how to jump directly into the beginning of a trend. Trend always begin in a sideway market. I know there are some topics discussing about market range techniques though, still interesting to explore them.
    2. MACD is a difference of MA. If your strategy already deals with MA, I don’t think it could help. RSI is an indicator that summarize how much the market increase or decrease in a considered period. You should study how the indicators are calculated to consider them valuable or not according to what you want / your strategy.

How to avoid trading during sideways markets?

Have a look at narrow Bollinger Bands.

Above can be followed by an explosive move up or down so make sure you don’t miss it!? 🙂
