    Hi there,

Does anyone know which formula IG Market is using in order to calculate that minimum distance?

I don’t care about whether there’s a command or not, I just want to integrate the formula in my code…

    Cheers,

    Interesting thought!

I don’t think anybody has ever tried to predict the ‘min dist’ in our code except as published on IG website in relation to times of the day etc.

The min dist will be related to volatility and impending news announcements etc.

Vonasi used to do a lot of coding  / testing such imponderables, but he’s not been seen hereabouts for nearly 12 months now.

If you’re good at coding, give it a go and let us know how you get on please?

Or find an ex IG employee who might know the ‘Forumula? 🙂

Well I got a reply from IG Market telling me that the minimum distance to the stop loss was defined arbitrarily by a risk management team in real time!

So it’s NOT an automated formula that calculates that distance, which is a bummer!

It is an internal calculation that belong to them in order to cover their risk. Bear in mind that IG is your counterpart, not the market.
