Dominant Cycle calculation by band pass crossing over

Dear Traders, Dear Nicolas, the attached code made by John Ehlers calculates the dominant cycle by counting the zero crossing over of a band pass filter. The original filter is using a fix DCPeriod of 20. I have made the code adaptive by iterative using the result of DC instead of fix DCPeriod at the beginning of the code. So far it is working well. By changing the actual shown time frame for example from 100 days to 1000 days the DC of the actual bar (today) is sometimes fluctuating. That means that for example at shown 100 days the DC of the actual bar is 14, by changing the shown timeframe 1000 days DC of the actual bar is 35. Does someone has an idea to modify the code into a correct and stable iterative Dominant Cycle Period? Many thanks for your reply in advance. HI Guys,

I am looking for this indicator able to:

take advantage of the adaptative cycles from J. Ehlers

but precisely also to give a projection in the future of the timing of the next high/low

I have been searching the forum in vain for this tool;

Has anybody worked on this or see a code somewhere in whatever language?

I don’t think those indicators below use the adaptative cycles from J. Ehlers, but they try to predict potential future market movements :

I am thinking of using some kind of cycle calculations for an indicator i am working on, but nothing similar to J.Ehlers’ one.

I know those indicators because i often look at tradinview indicators while looking for new ideas, and somtimes youtube simply propose to me videos with new/good indicators… There is a lot of really nice ones, but i will never have time to translate them all for prorealtime 🙂

Netherthelss, i don’t believe in such indicators predicting the futur. I prefer focusing on indicators that are really “tradable”, which can give a real edge, and based on simple concept (like a support, a resistance, a breakout etc).

but shoot them please ^^ now with ChatGPT we can start to translate roughly and then debugg them, if not too complicated of course

I aggree on the trading side; the market will always move towards Zones to be tested;

for me, Ehlers cycles are interesting as it can prevent you to enter on the wrong Timing = for example if you forget a pullback will inevitably happen after a big up or down move or to overweight your position specially at the end of a pullback move (if we are in Cycle mode).
