    How can I tell whether the current trade is, say, +10 pips or -10 pips?

    You could make difference between current Close and the last trade open price.

    Thank you Nicolas, but do I have to use TRADEPRICE[1], not [0] for the current trade?

    Use parenthesis, not brackets for the offset number, and yes tradeprice(1) should select the current/last opened trade.
