Unable to connect to ProOrder

    I just logged in to two of my demo accounts to check how the strategies did this week and neither platform will connect to ProOrder. There is no green ‘connected’ button – in fact no button at all….. and yes I am connected to the internet!

    This message is in the AutoTrading results window:

    Is it the same for everyone else or is it just me? I’m guessing that PRT are using the weekend to update some stuff.

    Hi @Vonasi

    I have exactly the same issue for 2 demo and one live account. No deal through connection button and no access to any ProOrder features. I’ve posted a question in the IG community site. Wait and see I guess…

    Thanks Nick, The Tall Guy. At least now I know it is not just me. Hopefully it is updates and on Monday morning we might have some new toys or some stuff fixed.

    Maybe PRT should issue a message to everyone in advance of these works. Some people may have been planning to develop strategies that require connection to PRT over the weekend and could then have made different plans if they’d known about it in advance. Even just a message on the splash screen at the start-up would have been useful.

    I strongly agree, and if this could have been displayed over a few days prior then we would not be moaning!?

    But it isn’t surprising we have been left in the dark again? Isn’t this just another example of the need for big improvements needed in PRT to user base communications and  customer service generally?

    Sounds like you are just the man for the job! I’m sure Nicolas could get you an application form. How’s your French for the interview stage? I would put myself forward but I have worked on the front line in customer service before – never again! Plus my French c’est un peu mauvais.

    Every cloud has a silver lining they say. Because of this lack of connection with PRT making any strategy with buy and sell limit orders in not give correct results I changed my strategy that I was working on to only have one buy limit order as this will still give a correct entry and I changed my exit criteria to be at candle close and voila! – a very good strategy emerged from where it had been hiding! I’m not sure that I would have tried this without the servers being down.

    Hahaha well done Vonasi, I call this making good out of bad and often apply the principle when I make a mistake during DIY / building jobs as I then try to finish up with an end result that is better than it would have been had I not made the mistake … just like you have now!

    Except you didn’t even make a mistake … PRT did by not telling us in advance.

    Sounds like you are just the man for the job!

    PRT wouldn’t employ me as they probably have me on record as a moaner and a loose cannon 🙂 … but when being positive and constructive brings not even a reply often, then it is no wonder we turn negative?

    But I do think PRT Platform is great and if Version 11 sorts even some of the frustrations then I’ll be more than happy and will never moan again! 🙂

    It is just common courtesy from any company to let their users know in advance that the platform will be offline.
    If not PRT then at least the brokers IG etc could have sent out a notification. Not so IG?

    Honestly. From any angle whether it be from customer service, PR or common business sense things like this just shows arrogance.

    May be someone somewhere or even 1000s people all over the world tried to create a new profile this weekend but all they see is unavailable platform.
    First impression – unstable unavailable platform. Not good for business hey. So they will also think how can I trade or put your money and trust in such a platform..? So these potential trades/users won’t come back. Lost forever.

    YES ME TOO, PRO ORDER IS DOWN. IF this is indeed due to ‘maintenance works’ then frankly its disgraceful service not to let clients trading live money on pro-order know  in advance of these works…

    I await Monday 2nd July to find out from IG…

    It is the weekend – no one is trading unless they like really big spreads. 🙂

    I was originally annoyed because I thought that having no connection was messing up my tick by tick back tests but it turns out that it was not related so actually the inconvenience has been very minor. In the end it just meant that I could not see my running strategy results but ‘My IG’ gave me an idea of the overall picture while I waited for PRT to do their thing.

    At the end of the day a message from PRT to say that there might be some minor inconvenience would have been nice but no one has lost any money while PRT updated a server so I think we should try to keep it all in perspective and save the jumping up and down and shouting in disgust for when it actually costs us money!

    Let’s all chill out, relax, open another beer – it is the weekend. 🙂
