    Hello all,

I am looking to buy codes for short term trading. I looked in the store and i found a few codes which offer trial period. This is very descent as it gives the opportunity to examine the performance of the code during backtesting.

On the other hand i found hundreds of codes for sale that do not offer trial. how can anybody trust stat those codes work? can you please suggest a few codes for short term automatic trading (5, 10, or 15 minutes).

    Thank You !!!

The free trial is useless, you are trying for 1 or 2 weeks an algorithm probably only from a well done Backtest.
If you are unlucky they do well in that test, then you buy it and lose money because most likely it will stop working.
As advice I would only look at those who have been showing the Live for many months, it is the only thing to look at, and if there is no live request it, so you can evaluate its functioning in real, and if they do not show it give up, so you do not lose money.
Backtests can be done perfectly, in fact the more perfect they are the worse they are in reality.

I totally agree with what you wrote, you just have to look at who is showing the live, and as you said it has to be working for a long time, that’s all you have to look at.

How do we know – without any doubt – that we are looking at / being shown Real Live results?

almost nobody ever, and definetely non of the botsellsers will ever show their real accounts (in case they have any). buyer has to believe he/she is buying value, has to believe he/she is stupid and the bot-seller is clever, veeeery clever – only this way selling of bots might work. but luckily or maybe unluckily buyig an algo is not the same like buying something in super-market, where you receive value, let’s say some bread you want/need to eat, when you are picking up bread and paying for it. with trading-bots you are paying for something what with probability of possibly 99.99999999999999% is worth nothing 😀 one could play lottery instead with same “success”. but bot-sellers will disagree, and argue for their “experience and knowledge” they collected over the “decades”, and will continue to advertise their advantage.

Yes it’s true, but even when you call a plumber or a bricklayer, how do you know if he’s capable of doing the job well, you only know afterwards and unfortunately I had a terrible experience, maybe you should know how to do everything, bricklayer-plumber-trading system carpenter.

before you call bricklayer you might ask for “reference” – an apartment(s)/house(s) where he was doing same/similar job earlier, and go there and look at the result and ask the house owner/s how he/them were happy additionally, what were the issues etc.. with the trading-bot seller it’s exactly impossible / or close to impossible.

„perfection“ and „revolution“ of almost all systems being that they are live (possibly) since just few months, not more than one year, right?

    #246548 quote

No, they have been used for a long time, what you see is after having had an improvement of the bot.
The first one at the top, the last improvement, was performed about 2 years ago, and has been active since November 2, 2017 (below I attach the original, never fixed).
I never modify any algorithm, but I only try to integrate filters to improve the drawdown and possibly the gain.

When they are blocked to insert the updated one, I save with a screenshot and then I insert it into the store to be able to see the history.

Most likely any ready made algo will not work reliably, anybody who has reliable trading algos will not sell them, they will trade them.  I have 50 written by myself, I would not sell or share the code ever.

Think up and test your own ideas, nobody in, my humble opinion, is going to give or sell you their edge.

As far as I know, no one sells or shares anything, they just rent it to you, so you won’t see anything because it’s all protected.

Whilst I’d never buy/rent someones algo, even the ones I see that look better than mine would have no more edge after fees than I have. Having given great thought as to why people do it, I am convinced it is about scaling. Even with reasonable edge, getting past income stage to growth is incredibly difficult from a low base if you trade risk adjusted. If you have heaps of money and your a retail quant, you’ll be just fine.

Mauro does look the most credible, but once I did ask someone else for a back test and never got a reply. So I wrote my own idea from that edge and now use that. At least I know how it functions and I can define its edge.
