Stop order problems: The order level is too close to the current market level

    Hello,

    Im having problems placing stop orders .

    Sometimes I get a message    ” The order level you have requested is to close to the current market level.

    The minimum distance for this market is 0 points”

    I would presume it may have something to do with the spread ?

     

    The second problem I have is once I am able to place my stop order,(depends on which stock it may be) when I try to move my stop loss into position I get the message

    “The stop distance you have requested is to far from the opening market level.The maximum stop distance from the current market level for this market is 3029.220 per point” Im using a spreadbetting account.

    Hope someone can spread some light on the issue .

    Hello,

     

    Following your request, with a spread betting account you can’t placed stop order in the spread, therefore you have to respect some distance from the market level placing your stop.

    For further information, i invite you to contact your spread betting broker it is them who set the rules.

    I’ve had the above many times  and I concluded both error messages were in error as far as the distance the message is quoting (min distance = 0?? max dist = 3029??).

    I decided that at that point when I was trying the change my stop that my broker IG was putting a stop on any changes of stops ( 🙂 ) and so no level that I selected for my stop would be approved / allowed.
