    Hi,

Since a while I am experience a problem with the bactests. Usually after a while doing backtests the report appear with most of ratios empty as the image attached and the only way to get them back seems to be reinitiating the platform. Somedays this can happen to me several times, so quite frustrating.

Does anybody experiencing similar problem? Or someone knows which can be the cause?

    Thanks

    Does anybody experiencing similar problem?

(Of course) Me. But indeed, when it starts to bug me really, I will restart the platform.
I never tried Reload Template. If that would help, it would save a lot of time.

Anyway, this is for me not since of lately. And all I recognize is that it is related to being tough for PRT on the backtesting. Thus, the harder you make it (think longer calculation times) the sooner it will happen.

But if it is correct that the latest version (be that June 22 for Live for July 25 for Demo) consumes more cpu cycles, then it would be a kid of logical (to me) that this now happens sooner.

Notice that if you incur for an Optimization Result window (have at least one varying (dummy) parameter) you can at least always see the DrawDown because that shows in that window. All what could lack for me in that case, is the number of subsequent losing and winning trades.

Also notice that hovering the areas of interest which remain blank, some times help. Especially with subsequent Losing vs Winning trades this is so (the one shown below).

Thanks Peter, at least I know it´s not something personal with me 🙂

I think i haven´t tried to change the Template, I will now. But I discovered that if I changed the report layout then the missing ratios appeared but I think to recall it was not definitve, they dissapear again in the next backtest

Rest assured TempusFugit it’s not personal / just you … me and Peter have seen and felt the pain of it all!!! 🙁

hovering the areas of interest which remain blank, some times help.

For me … hovering often makes ‘blank data’ magically appear!

Reload of the Detailed Report can work at times also.

When / if Runup/ Drawdown is blank, I’ve found showing 100K bars gets the fields to populate.

Blank data may be related to RAM hogging after PRT Platform has been running and performing lots of opti / backtests etc.

    Hello again,

I just got the “missing data” bug just now and I wanted to tell you because the way it happens IMO seems to invalidate the theory about RAM/performing backtests.

I opened PRT this morning but I couldn´t do any work with it at all and just now, a few hours later, I did the first backtest and the bug happened right away. PRT has been opened several hours but doing nothing at all so I can´t think is workload related

If you use Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and sort by CPU and / or RAM you will see PRT / Java(TM) Platform usage of RAM creeps up even when Platform is not being used.

RAM usage starts at about 795 MB and – in not long at all – creeps up to over 2,000MB and then at about 2,700MB weird stuff can start happening (on my PC anyway).  That is the signal I listen to, then I Quit > Save and Logback in. It’s no big deal really once a routine is established in our brains (in our basal ganglia did you know? 🙂 ).

This morning I received the July 25 version too. This is one-big-mess.

Obviously PRT back-test function is severely broken.  This has occurred in the past 24 hours and is unusable. I have experience the same problems as other posters. PRT seems to have developed a track record of unannounced shoddy releases.  It would be good to know if and when this will be fixed.  … Peter Dazeley.
