    Hi all

I am reviewing PRT as I am an Amibroker trader.  One of my strategies uses daily range bars with 2 indicators.  When i change the price to rangebars and try to add in an indicator it reverts back to candle bars (time based).  Is this an issue or am i doing something wrong ?

    Thanks

    Gent

    Hi Gent

I added MA and Boll and it stayed as Range Bars (see attached), but when I added Parabolic SAR it flipped back to Candlesticks.  I’m sure there’s a good reason, but I can’t think of it!? 🙂

On a scale of 1 to 10 how do you rate the Platform below? It looks comprehensive / does most things … from a quick glance at the link below??

I was almost ready to switch until I read this page:

I forgive PRT all its limitations now I’ve read that page.

    Hi

    Thanks for the replies.

Vonasi – $499 is a small worthwhile investment (you can buy a cheaper edition as well).   Its functionalities out weighs the (small) cost.  The biggest disadvantage is not with AB but access to good quality data (i.e. free).

Hi GraHal – i see that you are using a live feed – I was just testing the end of day pricing.  It does produce the range bars but when i add any indicator it goes back to candles.  In terms of functionality the code is very similar to AFL but in terms of what you can do PRT scripting is pretty basic (not that ive investigated in great depth !).   All in all the profits dont come from a system but from the individual !

I would have switches to PRT and made some changes (for example i cannot see a way of creating watchlists automatically when running a strategy) but the main deal breaker is range bars with indicators on a daily time frame !

    Thanks

UKCityGent why not get live feed … maybe with IG? No cost with IG (apart from spread etc) as long as you do circa one deal per week / 4 per month.

Please ignore this post. I am just posting it as for some reason the ‘Notify me of follow-up replies via email’ box seems to be ticked and I can find no other way of stopping the emails apart from to reply and submit with the box unticked – I hope anyway.

might be the new feature our big master introduced if your name is mentioned – dunno whether name is enough or it needs the at in front

Yeah same gig for me Vonasi, I wondered why I was getting so many emails lately! 🙂

AVT … Nicolas did say it had to be @******* … hope so anyway!?

I was receiving loads but that was because of the indicators I posted in the library and it was annoying my girlfriend as she gets all the emails coming through on her phone. So I turned everything off in ‘Settings’ and at the bottom of the library posts and then I find that some of the forum posts that I have replied to are emailing me with no way to stop except to post again and untick the box. I think just the one big on/off switch in ‘Settings’ is the best solution. Either you want e-mails or you don’t.

    I note that the ‘

Topics in “prorealtime platform support section” (official ones) are all ticked by default to receive emails. You have to uncheck the box each time you answer a topic. That’s the default behavior and I will not change it FYI.

You can unsubscribe to a topic by clicking unsubscribe at the top right of each topic’s page (see attached image).

Some indicators will not work on non-time based price representation such as range bars. So this is the normal behavior (revert back to normal candlesticks when unsupported indicators are applied). I mark this topic as “resolved”. Thank you.

    Hi Nicolas

Thanks for your response but can you give a bit more information.

Is there going to be a fix for all indicators to work on the range bars – or is this something we would have to accept ?

Is there a work around ?

Why do some indicators work with the range bars but not others ?

    Thanks

This is the default behaviour of the platform with some of this kind of price representation. I don’t think that it is planned to be changed in a near future, sorry.
