If you have systems that have Stopped due to an IG or a PRT error, regardless of how small the financial amount was you should do your best to get refunded – please don’t be complacent. We need precedents incase this happens with a large amount of money. We must work together to be active in our demands for a reliable and dependable service that we (1) pay for and (2) risk our capital with.

I have had Rejections due to volatility with my Market Orders and it doesn’t matter if it’s m1 or h1 system because it’s at that point of time when it tries to execute and the PRT Market Price is NOT EQUAL to the IG Market Price even though in theory it should be. So you see IG is looking for price match but because it doesnt match and it gets rejected following the Fill or Kill approach and as per the documentation it does this 10 times and then Stops the system but in my opinion the price wasn’t very volatile.

If you can show us the 1 sec chart when the error happened that would be great to see the level of volatility.

Despair did the IG person call you without you calling them as in they were proactive?

@David: Yes, it happened one time that a running strategy that even had an open trade was suddenly stopped and the position closed. Sometime (maybe 30-60m) someone from IG rang me (without me doing anything before) and told me that my strategy was stopped because of a bug in their (IGs) system. He apologized for it and said if i had lost money (my position was closed with a small profit), I had received compensation.

Other times when a strategy i was running was stopped “due an error” I received no phone call but in that cases the strategies had no trade open.

And yes, I also got the error message that a strategy was stopped because the price couldn’t be confirmed. When this happened there was no extrem volatility going on. At least have my strategies performed well in situations of much higher volatility. Yesterday for example when the USD/JPY came down really hard one of my bots opened a position and took profit directly after only 13s. This was interesting to see because it made obvious that PRT (or at least what you see of it) is lagging massively. I got the confirmation from IG on my mobile that the position was close before it even happened on my screen. But anyway internally all was processed correctly inspite of the fast move.

I think it is obvious that sometimes PRT and IGs system are not completely in sync and this can cause different sorts of errors. Then I’m not sure what one can do about it.

@David – yes totally agree but the chain of User->IG->ITF is so frustrating that I just can’t be bothered wasting more time on it unfortunately and in this case I made money – I have seen IG honour losses in cases of system error and that is great but still this seems more of a ‘toy’ than properly robust reliable trading platform – perhaps they are all as bad I don’t know but yeh I’m not putting my money on the line anymore waiting to find out and am back to manual trading only
