it would give a false impression cos out of the 1000’s of users of this site it seems 95% ‘pop in and pop out’ and don’t get involved with much at all? Nicolas may correct me?

Like many other websites, people are browsing, “leeching” and profit of what they found, that’s all .. we all do that! 🙂

Yes I understand, I only meant that if we polled site users re Auto-Quit No Save and only 5 or 6 voted then it may look like a No Issue (but it’s a biggy!).

PRT should fix asap or poll users on this (and many other issues) but, as they don’t even return a Support Ticket ID to users, a PRT originated poll is ‘pipe dreams’ on my part! 🙂

@Nicolas – bit of ‘Friday Fun’ – I dare you to press CTRL+S 20 times then leave your PRT to auto-exit and come back Monday and see what you’ve got/not got 😉

(BTW – are IT Finance also aware of the bug in the ProOrder AutoTrading window where newly run strategies sometimes [almost every time with me today] don’t update properly and just sit at £0.00 despite there being profit/loss on the position..? would be nice to get that sorted is bit nerve wracking having to QUIT -> SAVE – REOPEN when wanting to monitor profit/loss of a position in a fast move and be ready to manually STOP the strategy if wanted)

    Good weekend otherwise all! 🙂

You’re right MaxT! I Quit + Save (to get baseline) then went back in and made change to a Bot variable (from 190 to 100) then closed the optimisation window and then pressed Ctrl+S (I saw the saving data thing) then I File, Quit with No Save then went straight back in (while still fresh in my memory)

Result … lo and behold the variable I had changed from 190 to 100 (then did Ctr;+S) was back at 190 … so Ctrl+S does NOTHING!

What’s worse than functions we not got, but we want?
Functions that suggest / purport to work, but DONT!

It’s just happened to me again – like this ->

Opened PRT everything ‘present and saved’ from previous session manually exiting and saving (as well as numerous saves throughout the session etc.) so all good

Edited some code in a strategy to apply to a different instrument (stoploss level) and did some backtesting

Was happy with the code change so wanted to exit and save PRT – manually saved the template then tried to quit but no pop-up appears – (others have reported this problem) so I again save the template to be sure and see the thing swirling round then the only way out is to kill the Java task in task manager – re-open PRT – but code change gone

No major biggie for sure I agree is only one variable but this is why I try to manually quit and save and reopen PRT everytime I make a minor change – if I let it accrue up to say half a dozen changes and I haven’t manually saved and exited it becomes a pain to remember what all those little various edits were and having to go back to fix them all (please remember I am also talking about additions to watchlists and things like changing the time period of a screener etc.)

My PRT seems to have gone into meltdown…

I went to work again on PRT after posting the above and half the template layout was missing and the ProOrder window was showing no running strategies (not that it is disconnected like it occasionally does too) but I have three live strategies running

I have just quit (yes it popped up) and re-opened PRT and the missing parts of the template are still gone but things are going very strange and menu’s not appearing properly and I am having to kill the task to exit/no QUIT pop-up

I think this could be because someone at IT Finance is looking into my PRT as I have had to send them the login link and I think it messes things up when the same instance is trying to be opened at the same time

But I am trading! If this issue is due to IT Finance accessing my PRT then they should let me know they will need time in/I would prefer they let me know/liaise with me 🙁

Have quit and re-opened several times but template layout not coming back which is a pain but I don’t know what else could be missing/has been reset or if I can reliably trade from the platform at the moment – quite annoying…

I’ve been contacted by IG this morning to ask when they can schedule in IT Finance to access my PRT… so it seems I was right/my message has got through/quite annoyed about them crashing in on my session yesterday in the middle of live trading/not very professional support protocol/not impressed

However they are still saying they are unable to replicate this issue… arrrgggghhhhhh I am running out of ways to explain it to them/why can they not see the issue?! and it is more difficult having to talk to IT Finance via IG/would be much easier to talk directly in these types of situations

    #39162

I can’t replicate the problem on my PRT-CFD account, the issue seems located in another server than mine.

    Hi Nicolas

I don’t know what else to say but there is most definitely a problem and it is getting very annoying

It is too much to type here all the examples I have of what is going wrong – it could even be something to do with Java locally as I have been advised before on this matter to flush the Java cache but if I could just talk direct to an IT Finance tech and get this sorted it would be so much easier

Because I talked with them about this serious issue, you have been contacted by your broker. I hope a solution will be found quickly.

@Nicolas – I know this is inconvenient but it would be a great help if you would be up for testing this out with your PRT please?

    1. At the end of your day SAVE then QUIT and SAVE your PRT to make sure all your days work is properly saved
    2. Re-open PRT and go in and make a few obscure or not so obscure changes – add an instrument to a watchlist/change the time frame of a screener/edit some code etc.
    3. SAVE but do not QUIT
    4. Leave PRT to auto-exit
    5. Let us know what if any of your changes were saved?

If that works for you then it is either something to do with my Java, the PRT server (had not considered there were different servers/there could be any issues there), something to do with the IG interoperability with PRT or d) None of the above!

    #39231

At Point 4. above, instead of … Leave PRT to auto-exit … why not (at least as a first trial) QUIT but don’t Save?

When I QUIT but don’t Save after saving changes (with Ctrl+s) the changes were lost!

Hi GraHal – yes your test was a good idea/I didn’t think of that but when I tried on my PRT it didn’t work for me – or rather it did work in that the change I made was saved

I didn’t say anything about it earlier partly because when I last took this up with IG/ITF I did a similar test by making some edits in PRT saved it then killed the task in task manager to simulate a crash then re-open – when I did this the changes were not there so I hoped they could do this relatively quick/simple test and see the issue for themselves but apparently when ITF did this the changes were there! Then when I did it again after being notified of this (And my template all being messed up and being randomly kicked out of PRT throughout the day which I now know was most probably the ITF tech logging into my session) the changes were there! (which was why I just gave up/wasn’t getting anywhere with them trying to demonstrate what is going wrong)

So it would seem to be a bit of a hit n miss affair as if it were an intermittent issue but I think the most prominent time I have known this to happen was when the above steps were carried out and PRT auto-exits unattended but obviously this takes time as have to wait for PRT to auto-exit (talking of which a few weeks back I often had PRT wanting to auto-exit on me only an hour or so into a session – I put this into the ‘bag of issues’ last time round but was never given any explanation/was forgotten about/overshadowed by this saving issue…)

One totally curveball thing I have been thinking it could be somehow to do with is multiple monitors (yes physical monitors) – I know it sounds weird/totally unrelated/I don’t want to take things down the wrong track here but I have had issues with other platforms in the past where multiple monitor setups caused weird problems (Java can’t handle it very well or something?) – I have a laptop with three 19″ monitors attached and I recall you recently went for a bigger IT setup GraHal and perhaps maybe if Despair is still following this thread you might also have multi-monitor setup?

Mmm I just did ‘my test’ again (twice) and this time I saved the Coding screen (see attached) BEFORE I did Ctrl+S and then QUIT with NO Save.

Result my change was saved (with Ctrl+S) and the change was there when I logged back in!

MaxT, sorry about that and I’m mad with myself for not being more ‘analytical’ first time round!

Oh … I’ve been using one monitor since April … I’ve got so fed up with not being able to analyse performance of the 150+ Bots I was running in Demo I gave up!  Hoping the next version improves on this (other) PRT weakness!

I wouldn’t be mad at yourself – it seems it happened once in your first test but then you couldn’t replicate it (or maybe I am misunderstanding) and ITF are also having problems replicating but the bottom line is there seems to be a few of us who are having problems losing work so we can’t all be mad… can we? 😉

After a failed attempt yesterday IG are again trying to setup a mutually agreeable time with ITF and me for them to access my PRT (at least they are asking this time am still annoyed how they just logged in and took away my PRT session like that…)
