    I just had a situation where I realized I had an open position running a huge loss without a stop loss in place.

    Upon investigation, I found that this position was opened by one of my automated strategies (that I have been running without issues for quite some time now).

    Unfortunately, the strategy has stopped with the following reason;

    “Another order may be in the process of being filled on this same position.” WTF? This is the only strategy I have running on this FX pair.

    But instead of PRT closing the bloody position as it is supposed to as this is how it is setup in ‘Trading Options’

    The ‘Position and Order status after stop of systems’ is set to ‘Closed (default)’

    Yet the position is still running without PRT there to manage the trade. And losing me money…

    I am so flipping tired of this platform.

    Please open a tickect for PRT/your broker? to investigate on this issue. If it’s due to problem on their side, you’ll get refund. I can’t help much further sorry …

    This kind of error message “Another order may be in the process of being filled on this same position.”  is in my own idea due to a wrong communication between the server and the broker order book, too much time passed between order fill and another code read .. What’s the timeframe in ProOrder?

    Your explanation sounds plausible. I am running it on the 1min TF, however, this is the first time this has happened with this strategy and it has been running live for more than a month now.

    I also haven’t seen this happen with any of my other 1min TF strategies.

    As for logging a ticket, I haven’t closed the trade yet. Attempting to manage it manually.

    It is really a pity but one can not work with PRT professionally. I was already doubting my decision to switch to Matlab but now I got again a reminder why I’m doing it. 🙁

    @Despair

    80% of successful automated trading strategies rely on technical tools to program, launch, execute and manage them. Believe me, you’ll get many other problems of many kinds with other platforms. Nothing is “plug and play” in automated trading.  Latency, slippage, broker’s failures, wrong codes, platform’s bugs are the so many common problems you’ll encounter, even with MatLab.

    I know there are frustrating times when we do not know what’s going on and we would like everything to be better, but I can not spend my time reading and moderating messages where I can read “It’s better elsewhere, I’m leaving”. I created and I maintain this forum to help people who want to stay and it is not easy every day, thank you for your understanding.

    @Nicolas your point is valid and we appreciate what you are doing here with this forum. It has helped many of us to get to the point we are.

    I think we are just all a little disappointed with the fact that PRT is not addressing pressing issues in a timely manner.

    in a timely manner

    and I know that nowadays we are all living in a world where everything is as fast as the blink of an eye! 🙂

    Working in software development I fully understand the complexity and timelines involved with releases, but waiting a year for fixes is a bit much. I just don’t understand why we can’t get iterative changes implemented more frequently i.e. release version 10.4 then four months later 10.5 and then four months later 10.6 and then maybe version 11.0 next with more major changes.

    @Nicolas: I’m well aware of that bugs/problems are everywhere but the problem with PRT is that there are several problems within PRT that are out of reach for the normal user. That are problems PRT has to solve and not we. There is not much happening. I was now many times directly in contact with PRT and got it confirmed that their resources are quite limited. Of course they try there best but it seems to be not good enough.

    So the combination of a platform lacking abilities and even the abilities that exist are faulty/unreliable, this is nothing one can work with professionally. Don’t get me wrong, I still like PRT and will keep it by the side. PRT is great to play around with ideas and test thinks quickly but if real money is at stake and you want to get anywhere one has to look for other options – this is at least my opinion.

    out of reach for the normal user

    You are talking about server side execution which was made to keep things simple for beginner and normal users, yes. PRT is a software developer and it is connected with brokers (there are many that you even don’t know, because specific for banks and/or for countries) and it is by far more than you can imagine, in terms of maintaining, beyond what you could get with a ‘buy and launch crappy mt4 server’, for instance.

    I would like to be able to continue to argue that things are not that bad, but I absolutely must finish scheduled updates for the site by the weekend. I will thank you in advance to avoid opening new topics for the same problems. Thank you in any case for the help you bring to answer questions of users on the forum, I appreciate very much 🙂

    get iterative changes implemented more frequently

    In fact, this is already the case. There are new versions almost every month (you can get the information in the ‘about’ link in platform), but we do not get changelog that’s true.

    I mentioned it in another subject, but the corrections and the developments of the platform do not relate only to the development of the functionalities related to the programming. PRT is used by hundreds of thousands of customers, and automatic traders and programmers are just a small fraction.

    @Nicolas: I’m not aware of having opened a new topic on an already existing issue. I described my problem in another topic which was different to Juanj’s. No double post here.

    @Despair; what would be your option if you left PRT? Being Swedish as well I’m curious what platform/broker that will give you same options to build, phantom trade, evaluate new AT strategies free of cost and give you a supporting community like this with PRC?

    Despair is no longer a member of this forum community so he will not be able to answer your questions.
