The topic ProRealTime support and suggestions is closed to new replies so I guess the idea is to post them down here, even if they are not specific coding requests we’d like right away. I do have some ideas for features I’d like to see implemented at some point so I’ll just start off with a few things. Maybe they can be added to future updates, or others may find they’ve been thinking along similar lines and can join the discussion; if there’s enough interest maybe we won’t have to wait until a major Version upgrade.

1). PRT hasn’t devoted too much attention to volume (delta) studies, maybe that’s a conscious decision. There isn’t any option to display separate buy\sell bars on volume-at-price, for example, when almost every other platform has that by default. That info should be included in the data from the exchange, whether it’s charted as uptick/downtick or hitting the bid vs. ask. I’m not entirely convinced of the usefulness of delta studies, but it’s very popular these days and I’m sure many would be interested in pursuing it further. And it’s also a great selling feature. Maybe options for cumulative delta, sales at bid/ask, volume numbers on VAP?

    2) This might have more limited functionality, but it would be nice to have the ability to display an indicator vertically, and not just rearrange things in a new tab, which is a bit cumbersome. What I’m thinking is that some types of studies don’t really need a big piece of horizontal real estate, and most of the time we aren’t using the whole width of the display anyway. Wide screen monitors mean that vertical space is at a premium, and I like to avoid further shrinking my charts by adding things. As an example, someone may follow the ES, and want to display the PREM or some kind of arbitrage meter they’ve coded as a bar off to the side. Or someone could make some sort of ADV candlestick to monitor bid/ask pressure. In those cases only the current action is relevant and there’s no need to display any historical data, so it would only take up a sliver of (vertical) space.

    3) I’ve noticed that bands (Bollinger, SD, MA etc) are set to always be visible in their entirety, even though that often compresses the candles or bars on the chart. It would be nice to have the option to keep the chart sized correctly and hide that part of the bands that go beyond the available space.

Anyway, just some ideas, I’ll write more later 🙂

Thanks a lot Saud for your feedback.
I totally agree with you about the first point.  I’d like too to play with Volumes since it’s a major information. I’ll add your request on my own list.

    Thanks very much Nicolas.

From what I understand, there are some technical reasons why uptick/downtick might be a better method for volume delta if you add that, and I think it’s much easier to implement on the platform too. The bid/ask prices and last sale data are all fed from the exchange independently, using an interleaved message stream within a physical stream. Then software (PRT (plus data provider?) correlates this information, so the synchronization of all that is only circumstantial, though it should be reasonably accurate in most cases. Correct me if I’m wrong! But there are also theoretical reasons why uptick/downtick is much better and less misleading.

Looking forward to any updates on this.

Hi @Saud. WRT point 3, you can check the box next to “Vertical autoscaling: use price only.”

Right click your chart, choose “Settings Price…” and set it from there.

    Regards
