During backtesting codes for EURUSD and other currencies, 5 minute intervals, ProRealTime usually provides 2-3 days data, maximum. Is there a way that we can backtest a code on bigger periods? Thank you.

    Hi,
I’m not sure which version you’re using, but the “Complete” version has 200k units of history, and the “Premium” version has 1M units of history…?

I attach an example. This is a screenshot of a backtest of a code and as you can see the only day that is applied is on the 8thAugust, the days of the backtesting for short periods run at least 2-3 days. Is there a way to have more days? i am using V12 with IG. Thank you.

    Hi,
Do you have enough units available in your chart? (see screenshot)
Have you adjusted the simulation period in the BackTest window? (see screenshot)

I will tell you what was wrong! basically i am answering to my self but maybe someone else is interested in the answer.

I am using ProReal through IG. And the version allowed for such usage is limited to only maximum 5000 bars. So in order to have the huge usage of bars for backtesting i have to subscribe to ProReal Premium.

Now i have another question. if i subscribe to the premium plan will i be able to trade directly from the prorealcode webpage with IG? or do i have to prepare the code and transfer manually to IG? and sth else .. i also here about interactive brokers and i am wondering whose is the best (best means cheapest+efficient+user friendly). Thanks !!!!!!!

Yes, for more history subscribe to the “Complete”(200k units) or “Premium”(1M units) version…

The cheapest and user friendly choice would be ProRealTime (Complete) + IG…you be able to trade directly from the platform or the IG website…

What version is that, I’ve never heard of a version of PRT with max of 5,000 Units to Backtest … then again we can learn something new every day?

As I wrote i use V12 THROUGH IG ! that allow you only 5000 bars.

Something is wrong here, as you can see on attached, I can select 200k bars / units (back to Jan 23)  on 5 min Timeframe, so why can’t you?

My v12 Complete version is also through IG, just like yours.

Thanks for your answer but i suppose there is a difference. I use the complete prorealcode that the IG provides which from what i read offers less features than the same code which is offereed by the prorealcode website. so please conform that you pay subscription to the prorealcode and from there you trade in IG. If this is not the case then i have an issue.

I have the PRT v12 Complete version provided by IG (just like you have) I do not pay any subscriptions direct to ProRealTime.

Can you show us where you read that ?
And btw I agree with GraHal. There’s nothing else to choose than 200K and 1M. But maybe this can help you :

See below at the mouse arrow; There you can add other quantities (max 200000 for Complete). After it is  added to the list, you can choose it from there.
Thus theoretically it could be so that your list is empty or shows your 5000 as maximum in there.
