Hello,
I’m new to ProRealTime and i have been trying to use the ProBackTest but i always get an error message, no matter the script I run (see below a screenshot of the error message).
My original test was to run a simple script that buy and close at each candle. I originally posted in the Italian forum and received already feedback that the script works fine for other users. I have modified the script and some figures in the paper trading account, timelines (70ticks, 5mins, etc.), number of units, instruments, all this without successfully completing the test. Then i tried the scripts available by default in ProRealTime, same issue. Hence my thought that there is something systematically wrong, either in the settings or in the installation.
Did any you come across similar issue and found they way around it? Does ProRealTime create logs for these types of errors, maybe with some diagnostic information that could hint to the root cause of the issue?
I’m using ProRealTime Complete v11.1 (I’m not trading with ProRealTime).
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Teo
When putting code in your topics or posts it is better if you add it to the text via the ‘Insert PRT Code’ button rather than attach a screenshot of it.
If you send a BUY order and a SELL order to the market at the close of a bar then they will just cancel each other out and no orders will be placed. On the first bar you won’t have anything to sell so you will open one trade and then never close it.
Your code works fine and exactly as I just described on my v11 platform.
Is your internet fast? Often slow back tests will drop out with an error if the internet fails although I can’t see that being the issue with your code which doesn’t actually do anything but open one trade and never close it!
Thank you for the prompt feedback. It was my intention to embed the code (I did it in my original post in the Italian forum), I simply forgot.
Anyway the issue seems unrelated to the code itself, so i will post the question in the more general platform forum.
Cheers,
Teo
x70 – Please do not post the same question in multiple forums. Your original post in the Italian forums was sufficient. All the forums are monitored by moderators and we have a particularly good Italian moderator who could easily help you. In fact I now see that he already asked you not to double post but you did anyway. You will gain nothing from posting the same question multiple times. In fact the opposite as double posting just wastes peoples time and leads to confusion. If you post this same question again elsewhere then it will be deleted.
I will not delete this topic for now and leave it as an example to others of how not to behave in the forums! Please respect the forum rules with your future posts and topics.
