Try on 5 sec TF … do you see current NVIDIA price movement on 5 sec TF (same as shown in my screnshot posted a few Posts above)?

    #249746

    @Mr.Mjau, below FYI (PRT-IB).

See atached and current Time (on 5 sec TF) at ‘cursor cross hairs’ … price is moving on my IG Platform (for NVIDIA All Sessions DFB)

    You forgot the attachment ?
And is the price moving, or is the time also progressing ? (over here the price does not move (PRT-IG).
Anyway … .does that setting you showed (for the 90 stocks etc.) influence your PRT behaviour ?

    #249748

    Oh, cross posted.
I still don’t see which screenshot you mean ?

Right is IG. Price of that does not move a bit.

    #249750

Half way there. There is a workaround to get PRT-IG to accept ETH. You open NVIDA in IG-platform and press “Open in ProRealTime”, this will force PRT to accept extended hours. But as you can see in the picture, it’s just gaps for ETH no candles

Yes, in itself that situation exists (and was the reason I was asking GraHal “does the time move too ?”.
With PRT-IB you can trade in that situation (put orders, exit them etc.). But obviously this is far from convenient.

    Hi,

The difference between IG and IB is that IG uses CFDs, while IB uses futures…
CFDs are over-the-counter (OTC) products and are not traded on a regulated exchange like futures…
CFDs do not offer access to pre-market or extended-hours trading..

You cannot adjust trading times of CFDs on shares, these times are determined by IG…

Works fine to trade Nvidia ETH in the IG-platform so no problem there, it’s when moving to PRT the problems starts.

Used the chat from IG now and he said after waiting 45 min, “What you can trade on the IG-platform you can trade on PRT”, so not much help there

I was talking about the PRT-platform…

Yes both Time and Price of NVIDIA are moving on ETH, but bear in mind my screenshot was of DFB (Daily Funded Bet / SB- Spread Bet Account)!

I will check later on what I see on my CFD Account on IG.

    #249762

Well Weird on CFD Account … time has not moved from 21:00 yesterday (see at cursor cross hairs) but price is moving as can be seen from the Quoted Bid & Ask (top right) and also the Bid Ask Band near the bottom of the Chart on attached.

    #249765

Atlest we are on the same page now 😄
Now we just to solve the problem

    #249767

I cannot see a setting anywhere re ETH and I checked on The IG Platform also.

You should ask PRT Direct using the link below, be sure to let us know what they say please.

And also email IG and ask why the time on NVIDIA Charts does not progress?

Point out to IG, that price changes on NVIDIA outside cash market hours,  but time does not progress and so no bars are produced and NVIDIA cannot therefore be traded using CFD’s outside of cash market / exchange trading hours.

And also email IG and ask why the time on NVIDIA Charts does not progress?

As I already said : that is normal behaviour when the data is there but ETH is not supported by/on the chart. The same happens with PRT-IB and it is just normal. This is meant so the two environments (like IG and PRT and also IBKR and PRT) can keep on communicating over their order engines. Thus, make an order in IG and it will show in PRT. And vise versa.
I also said : you would be able to trade in PRT in this situation, but it is very inconvenient (I worked like that for two or so years when ETH was not yet supported in PRT(-IB)).

Btw, I already asked my PRT contact. And guess what ? they/PRT doesn’t even know about this lacking. That too is logical because the data is in this case from IG and IG should challenge PRT with functionality for their ETH data.

    BUT

It is also slightly more complicated because IG herself always has “ETH” and also calls it literally like that. But that is another ETH we are discussing today. And thus it is also related to IG herself not really knowing about this as an explicit phenomenon. What they do know about is their own “after market” trading, which starts at 10pm your time when the Futures stop. IG just trades further with their own community (which is you and me, would we utilize it). Then one hour later Futures open again and that would be the formal “ETH” for Futures. Then OTOH this is not really ETH because that is for Stocks like NVidia (all US stocks, which is xxx times more than the IG pages shows with “90+”).

And since we are at it anyway, the Stocks Aftermarket starts at 9pm your time, until 10pm, then restarts at 11pm until 1pm. Then ETH is closed.
Premarket (which is also ETH) starts at 9am your time, and lasts till 2:30 pm your time after which the Stock market normally opens.

“Data” as such is a very strange dimension, because it is provided by the Exchanges (of which I think 100s exist). A platform can “enumerate” it and pass it(‘s “Symbols) on to the user (you and me) without the platform provider even knowing about it. I think they would know about the supported Exchanges, but that is about all.

To wet your appetite, if needed, Pre-market trading is less interesting, or may come close to normal trading. For e.g. NVidia but also Tesla and AMD and quite some more, the volatility is sufficient to normally trade it like during normal opening time. However, the fun starts aftermarket because most large cap stocks produce their quarterly reports after (your) 9pm and it is very easy to gain 10% in one go on a stock. Or lose 10%. Or gain the 10% twice (going up prior to analysis of the reporting, and going down as fast after the analysis). This is all great fun but also very hectic. Each day other important stocks which goes on for quite some weeks, until the next reporting quarter begins and all starts over.
Of course this is no news to many, but if the IG environment bears the ETH trading (in PRT that is), then this will all go past you. So yeah, please encourage PRT to make this normally work – the platform can just do it. I myself did *not* make a ticket of this. Otoh, my contact told me to sort it out (but without a real ticket this doesn’t do much, I’d say).
