I got a little bit confused. If i want to set a stop loss or take profit on say euro/usd and write for example set stop ploss 20. Does this mean the stop loss is 20 pips away from my buy-price? Or how does “points” relate to pips?

I think i sorted it out: (difference in price)/pipsize=”difference in points” but feel free to correct me if i’m wrong. 🙂

Points and Pips are the same, this is different names to say the same thing. The term “pip” is commonly used for forex pairs while point is for any other instrument. Pointsize and Pipsize will give you the same value.

So as you stated, your formula is good for any instrument:

    (difference in price)/pipsize=”difference in points”

    is the same as :

    (difference in price)/pointsize=”difference in points”

    and the same as :

    (difference in price)/pointsize=”difference in pips”

    or even:

    (difference in price)/pipsize=”difference in pips”
