    Hi everyone,

Is there a way around the ‘no partial position closing’ condition that is imposed when I try and live trade a strategy?

For example, I want to buy 2 per point and then sell off 1 per point at some condition (leaving in 1 per point) and then sell off the other 1 per point at some other condition?

At the moment I am getting the error message ‘Trading systems that partially close an order cannot be sent to ProOrder….’

Not sure if I’m missing something obvious,

    Thanks in advance!

There is no work around. No partial closures with the current PRT version.

To be more clear: partial closure is working in demo/paper trading but not available through IG with ProOrder.

In fact there is a workaround:

Launch multiple strategies with different takeprofit or exit conditions to simulate those partial closures. This is how I deal with this kind of strategy for my customers.

Is there likely to be any movement on partial closes? Institutions do this all the time and IG not allowing it smacks of retail bucket shop drills.

I have an idea, for example: what if the code opens 2 positions long and then the code opens 1 position short? can something like this work?

No, it will automatically close the long position as soon as the one is sent.

Hi Nicolas, sorry for using this old thread, hope it’s ok. If using two separate strategies as you mentioned, is it possible to raise the stop loss at the continued strategy to break even/small profit? Example. The main goal is to exit at 3 points, but take partial profit at 1 point and raise the stop to the +0.5 point position (example based on 0.5 spread). – So strategy 1 exits at 1 point. – But is it possible for strategy 2 to trigger at +1 point to change the stop to the +0.5 point positition/index value? Thanks.

Yes but with no takeprofit in the second strategy. You’ll find many breakeven codes on the website and forums. The partial closure functionality is coming! The public release date is not too far.

Hi all, I asked IG when this option of Partial Closure I  probuilder will be available. They reply: “might take a long time since there’s only a few people requesting it and we work on a priority list whereas as we implement or initiate a function due to its demand from clients so it may take a while for us to implement this as the demand is too small” Then I encourage all of you to request this option and make a bit of pressure. Cheers

You can believe me if I say that it is planned already. In fact, some of the December issues with MTF have caused delays on other server-side developments. So, we just have to wait for it.. 🙂
