I am new to automated trading.  Few questions. Thanks

    • If use PRT for automated trading, do I need VPS? I know VPS is required for MT4 trading platform
    • I have no knowledge of automated trading. Where do I start to learn about automatic trading using PRT platform?
    • Where do I find sellers, who sell EA or robots for prt automatic trading?
While doing manual trading directly through PRT charts, sometimes orders get rejected, because price changed. Can this problem also happen in automatic trading?   I will not be aware if trades get rejected in automatic trading.
    • I will appreciate if someone share their experience with PRT automatic trading. Any thoughts that makes PRT good or bad for automatic trading?

It be good for you to go through all the options on ALL the menus at the top of your screen and you will find the source of information for most of your questions.

For example to buy EA’s … click on Marketplace on the top menu bar.  For free EA’s … click on Library.

To get trained … click on Traning Courses.

To find a wealth of information written by Nicolas the website owner … click on Blog and Help.

That quote doesn’t fit here, but thanks anyways 🙂

And you don’t want to answer about VPS, or you don’t know? 🙂

    Tame down a bit ?

How about answering if PRT automated trading requires a VPS or not ? 🙂

    Lets not waste time 🙂

But the answer is No. PRT operates server side in normal (and advised) circumstances. You can shut off your PC, and the auto strategy keeps on running.
That is, assumed your question was about that.

If I had something to say (not related to MT4 because I don’t know that), then the power of PRT is in the BackTesting. No AutoTrading without BackTesting, and it doesn’t lack there that I can find. Read : I could also write stuff in C++ or C# elsewhere up to whatever I like (and better than what PRT allows for) but if the BackTesting features lack, all is in vain. Same with any API and do even more yourself – if the history data is not there, what to do.

You can readily learn (from me) that you will plainly hate PRT for things to come to you, but that you will never leave because net it is for the better.
This is highly personal of course, but since you’re asking …

The real prospectus is PRT-IB (Interactive Brokers), but the AutoTrading is due for a while now (it will be there eventually). And the BackTesting and all (also Forward Testing with a Demo account) is just possible for IB. The “feature set” is different, and possibly more extended with IG for AutoTrading, but (for me) IG has too many quirks like, well, those you mention yourself. People in this community (which btw is about Autotrading only which is is *not* lead by PRT personnel at all) are used to the quicks because they don’t know better and learned to live with it.

    Now you know everything. 😐

@umd, welcome to the forum. If you stick around you will find that people are generally friendly and helpful. But your post is a bit like someone standing on a beach and asking which way is the sea. So not too surprising that Grahal answered as he did.

There’s a huge range of punters here from noobies to professionals. Everyone’s experience will be different. Some know more about trading, some know more about coding. You will need a substantial amount of both.

Start with the training videos. Download some algos from the library and study them to learn how they work. This is a good resource for off-the-peg  bits of code for various common purposes (money management, trailing stop etc)

Are you saying you can backtest and forward test with IB NOW  … or that it will be possible in the future?

    No probs, apologies.

My answers were also intended for the future wider audience reading this Topic … New to Automatic Trading.

Saturdays are usually very quiet on here (unfortunately) but your two Topics have sparked lively interest, thank you!

Haha, that is possible since I am around and beyond. The only thing which is not possible there is Live trading.
    Thus Yes, NOW. 🙂

@umd may be it’s me, but the tone of your first messages is not very friendly. This a community of people willing to help and from my own experience you have a dozen of people who really master Trading AND PRT and who are really willing to help and you have half of them answering your questions here. Now that we are done with logistics, you can check the following link which might be of interest

    @Khaled
, I really think that you don’t need to worry about my tone 🙂  I suggest you focus on trading, and earn some money in trading 🙂

I already decided I am not going to use PRT platform.  I am going for MT4 trading platform, which is tried and tested platform for decades.  And much better information readily available online.

    Happy trading 🙂
