I am using PRT with IG on UK shares spread betting.

I use the moving average on 20 and 50 periods on 1 minute charts but would like to move to 1 second charts.

So is it possible to just use the moving average with 20*60=1200 periods and 50*60=3000 periods to get the same indicator as when I used 1 minute charts?

I am not sure if there are system limitations on such large number of periods?

My initial testing shows different results although on the stroke of 1 minute maybe the indicator is the same but not if the closing price only is used on 1 minute charts rather than the average price during that minute??

Yest, it’s possible, but results are not the same. A 1200-period MA on a 1-second TF is different form a 20-period MA on a 1-minute TF.

You can have a try, for sure.

    Thank you.

I also use tick by tick charts a lot – is there a way to add moving averages to these charts which returns the same result as 20 and 50 moving averages on a 1 minute chart using PRT?

Each TF yields different values for indicators.

Using multiples may get you close at times, but it’s never the same!

We all hope after MTF is officially released for ProOrder, PRT will start working on MTF for ProBuilder (ProScreener already supports it).
