I know it is the other way round but I know what I am asking. I think it has some utlity, depends how you use it.
Assuming I’ve 5m ema169, how can I use it on e.g. 15m or 30m timeframe? It is possible in TradingView though.
I know 5m ema169 is something y on 15m but I have not put an effort to convert lower tf ema formula into higher tf ema formula. Has anyone tried or know better how to do it?
Thanks
Ash
5m ema169 is nearly same as 15m ema 56.
5m ema 168 is same as 15m ema 56 (divide by 3 because 15m / 5m = 3)
Happy to be corrected … if I’m missing something re ema??
You are right GraHal, it’s nearly same as 15m ema 56. Not the same, unfortunately. You may still get a rough idea of what’s going on.
Thanks guys, never thought that way. It is near match and good enough for a signal.
To my surprise, I can acheive same in PRT V12 charts, not sure my indicator on PRT would support or not but PRT is doing so. See attached.
But it doesn’t work in my own code.
You would need to post your code else we can only guess what you mean by “it doesn’t work in my own code”.
I think this can’t work in code because an indicator works at the tick level, always. The implication is that it can’t be used in code at all. Yes, at the TF intervals, but that is not the idea I suppose ?
(I did not fully follow this topic)
What so an EMA running on Chart Timeframe of 15 mins does not work with a period of 56??
Above should have included … ‘EMA 56 on TF 15 mins coded into an Algo’.
Hi,
First, I meant that you can view eg 5m ema169 on 15m chart in prt v12.
Second, you cannot code above in your indicator so the usefulness is only visually as per the v12 feature.
Finally, I understand as you all have well explained that I can achieve almost same effect by using either 5m ema169 or 15m ema56 or 30m ema28.
