[IG-UK] Pro-realtime data feed/questions

  Hi,

  I am experimenting with pro-realtime and currently spread betting via IG. Can some one please clarify the following.

  1. Is only version 10.3 available for IG users ? i.e is there a plan to upgrade to 11
  2. Is there a way for me to demo trade? I ask as IG’s demo account does not allow me the possibility to open prorealtime platform.
  3. I am using linux , is there a way i can launch the platform directly from console without having to navigate to IG open chart , open with pro-realtime
  4. Where is the data feed taken from which is fed into spreadbetting. I.e if i am trading Kingfisher PLC (LSE) , i am trying to understand the volume indidcator/price ticker , are these taken from IG’s platform or from LSE’s data feed? Likewise for volume.#

  1. Yes to v10.3. V11 is promised by IG, but no definite date as yet (early 2021 maybe according to IG, but don’t hold your breath! 🙁 ).
  2.  Yes, but you need to enable PRT Demo in IG Settings. If you cant find it, just say and I will post a screen shot.
  3. I can’t help, never used Linux, sorry.
  4. Volume is IG client volume only. Price is taken from the underlying cash market during market hours, from Futures during out of market hours and from IG only during Futures closed hours, e.g. weekend etc.

  Thanks mate, I would really appreciate if you could post a screenshot where is this setting buried.

  I have a couple of follow up questions too!

  1. Does the platform show the spread like IG tickets do? I spent some time eye-balling the platform on friday but i did not see this value. I do not wish to calculate this while trading.
  2. Does platform support ability to display drawing by timeframe? I.e I dont want something i draw on a hourly level to be visible on daily,  but a level drawn on daily should be visible on hourly

  Cheers! got the demo account up and running. Regarding spread , i wanted this to be computed automatically and displayed under the buy/sell price. i.e in the example you posted, it would say ~3.6

  Nearest I know to doing that would be to add the Indicator – bid ask colour band – to your chart.

  I use it all the time … see attached at red arrowhead.
