Hi all
I’m trying to develop an Ichimoku trade for long only (using this as a building block for long & short) on the 1 hour FTSE chart.
although it seems to be ok initially on backtesting, on a detailed look at a trade it seems to enter when the conditions are not met?
Also please ignore the greyed out lines as the code is still in development and not tidied up yet!
Basically I am asking it to enter when:
- Initially define an uptrend by using a full bar above 20 the EMA
- Tenkan > Kijun
- Full bar above the Ichimoku cloud
- Full bar above Tenkan
- Chikou is above the cloud 26 periods previously
- Also only enter when an upcloud is present at the current price
- An additional filter I’ve used is the Stochastic for entry
- you will note that I have added values for variables I can manipulate to confirm definite true conditions i.e. size of cloud and amount Tenkan > Kijun
I have attached the development code and some screenshots of the results and the chart. My ask is:
- the screen shot attached shows a trade (albeit profitable!) that I believe should not have entered as the cloud is clearly a down cloud and the Chikou line is in or below the previous 26 period cloud?
- I am struggling to define the cloud 26 points ahead of the current price to use as a condition?
- also I would prefer to use the crosses over command (i.e. Tenkan crosses over Kijun)but need to monitor it several periods in the past, still holding it true until remaining conditions are met, or cancelling if crosses back under?
Any help/enlightenment would be most appreciated.
Steve
