So i got an email saying 2 systems had stopped, the buy orders had been rejected. I tried to buy manually and it said “Buy complete” (or whatever similar it says) on the platform. I couldnt buy via PRT. (even manually)
I could not find the open positions i bought, my margin did not increase, there where no pending orders. It was as if i never bought anything. So i tried to buy again. multiple times this happened. Nothing seemingly went thru.. I saw no open positions (other than the ones that was opened the day(s) before) and no pending orders, no nothing.
I contacted IG via live chat and they confirmed that there was issues, amongst other things the minimum stop loss on DAX went form like 12 pips to 100 But the issues should be fixed within minutes. which is likely the problem that stopped my systems.
So thinking i could not trade in any way i thought fuck it, im on vacay in Vietnam. I close my computer.
Couple of hours later i check IG on my phone and suddenly i had used almost all my capital and all my previous purchases had suddenly gone thru! I had to cancel multiple of them with losses because i was about to be margin called as fuck. So i closed 9/10 and left 1 open, trying to mimic the system that had tried to buy earlier.
1 hour later i check IG on my phone again and the apparently REST OF THE PURCHASES HAD GONE THRU (that i tried to do many hours before)! Again i had to cancel multiple contracts that had been bought because almost all of my capital was being used for margin.
Now let me also say that i have a screenshot for when PRT issues was fixed, seeing all of those orders that has been REJECTED (the manually purchases). Those should not in any way have been auto-bought at a later time. There was no way for me to cancel them as i didnt see them in pending orders or open positions, when i tried to buy them.
I have contacted IG and im waiting for their reply. I can understand technical issues CAN happen, but orders that have been rejected should NOT suddenly “go thru” hours laters. That seems fucking crazy… this could have been a disaster.
