Forex Volume. IGs answer. What does PRT say?

  I am at a cross-road.

  I love PRT for the modern interface, the easy trading and the okay-ish  programming options (with too much limitation on bar-based programming). I am okay with IG. But you guys don’t seem to talk to each other!

  I have on several occasions approached both IG and PRT regarding not only WHEN PRT 11 will come to IG,  but also WHY there is no FX volume.

  I fully understand volume / tick volume in FX, so lets not get into that discussion. However, Volume is our oxygen. I am missing it terribly.

  This is IGs final answer why there is no FX volume in PRT, as opposed to MT4 or their own web-based dealing system.

  We are unable to send tick volume (FX volume is a tick data) data to PRT as they are a third party platform provider not managed by IG, whereas MT4 is a third party platform managed by IG.

   

  I have a PRT sponsored account, so you guys get a bit extra bang for the buck. Why does it feel like IG and PRT don’t play in the same team?

  So I am at a cross-road. I want a modern trading platform (forget about MT4 and Mt5). I’ve spent many hours figuring out PRT, but I’m also deeply invested in TradingView.

  So my question: Is there absolutely no way you can arrange for volume??? More than the tickdata for 10 days? Come-on guys! Can’t you talk to each other and solve this?

   

  It is not rocket science! But it is a deal-breaker for me!

  Forex volumes is present with IG data since 1 or 2 weeks now. Open a forex pair chart and add the Volume indicator, you’ll see by yourself.

  Yes, I noticed. I believe I may have something to do with it as I’ve been pestering IG on this topic.

  However, the volume (which is based on tick data – and I am very happy about that), only covers 10 days back. Any back-testing is not going to work beyond 10 days on FX. Any indicator based on volume is only valid maximum 10 days back – have a look. MT4 offers much more tick data from IG. But I don’t want to touch MT4 anymore. It is 17 years old! And MT5 is almost a decade old (!!) and barely used by brokers. That is the reason I shifted over to PRT.

  The reason I ask is that I want to have volume profile indicators, (intraday and composite). I can build the indicator if I have two things:

  • Volume for more than 10 days, which is missing.
  • PRT version 11 on IG. I can’t do such a thing with PRT 10.3 which is missing arrays or multi timeframe for indicators. I believe PRT 10.3 is 4 years old. PRT 11 is now almost 2 years old and still not available (!)

  I feel that PRT has such a potential that is not being offered to IG users.

  The volume has been activated, true, but it is a trickle down from the tap. They haven’t opened the tap completely – why only 10 days?

  Version 11 was said to come Q2, then Q3. Yesterday PRT told me Q4 2020. A reliable source at IG told me Q1 2021 a few weeks ago. So it makes me very frustrated. Maybe it will be Q2 or Q3 2021?

  PRT is a good system, but it doesn’t matter how good it is if the collaboration between IG and PRT is lacking. I’m not saying this to be difficult, I am pointing out the obvious. MT4 is a licensed product bought and paid by IG and they have obligations to run the show – they have to make it work themselves. PRT is a third-party product and they seem to care less about it.

  I can continue terrorising them, but it shouldn’t be my job as a product user to address the obvious with the suppliers.

  Please PRT – fix these issues with IG and make it happen.

  PRT cannot fix something that is not in their hands. Of course PRT would love IG to offer v11 but if IG decide not to what can PRT do about that? If IG have only recently decided to offer Forex volume data but no historical data prior to the date it starts doing so what can PRT do about that?

  IG are the company that we all need to direct our thoughts at via their own forum or direct communication with them.

  Surely a naive question, but why PRT provide only 2-3 brokers for cfds ? It’s a worldwide market, so why the other brokers aren’t using PRT ?

  If this is the case and PRT users have to tell IG what to do, then PRT is in real trouble.

  Do you know how difficult it is to move a big player like IG by making phonecalls and writing on their forum as a user? The people responsible for changes are cocooned away from reality by several layers of filtering. I would have assumed that PRT had a direct business partnership.
